to belong to English men they were againe restored to the laders of them by order of the<br />
sayd Commissoners and the rest of the ladeing together with<br />
the shipp the ''Strong Rowland'' and her tackle furniture and Ammuni=<br />
tion for that the same could not then bee made appeare to belong<br />
to any the subiects of this Commonwealth were detayned by<br />
the sayd Commissioners as lawfull prize, for trading<br />
there contrary to the lawes in that behalfe made And hee this depo=<br />
nent did observe that the Master and Company of the sayd shipp<br />
''Strong Rowland'' were all dutch men and hearde the Master<br />
of her confesse that hee was a hollander or dutchman and<br />
that the sayd shipp did then belong to holland And<br />
further to this article hee cannot depose/
To the last hee saith his foregoing deposition is true/
To the Interrogatories/ [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first Interrogatorie hee saith hee knoweth the shipp ''Strong Rowland''<br />
and hath knowne her ever since about the latter end of January 1654<br />
English style and first sawe her at the Barbados and saith shee<br />
is of the burthen of seaven score or eight score tonne and had at<br />
her seizure nyne or tenne gunnes but having not about him his coppy of<br />
the Inventary by him taken as aforesayd hee remebreth not the<br />
iust number of her gunnes And further cannot answere/
To the 2 hee saith that the shipp Interrogate was seized on at<br />
the Barbados about the beginning of ffebruary 1654 English<br />
style by order of the Commissioners aforesayd and this deponent<br />
was present at her seizure, and sealed up her hatches and saith shee<br />
was seized for trading at the Barbados contrary to the lawes<br />
of this Nation/
To the 3 hee saith the ladeing taken aboard her was Mascovadoe sugars<br />
and some fustick wood and some few bagges of dry ginger And the value<br />
of the sayd shipp and ladeing was as hee beleeveth about seaven or eight<br />
hundred pounds sterling And further saving his foregoing deposition<br />
hee cannot answere
To the 4th hee saith that hee heard the Master of the sayd shipp confesse<br />
that shee was a holland shipp and belonged to dutch men and was<br />
bound for holland with her ladeing, but the names of the Owners<br />
of her or her ladeing, hee knoweth not nor hath hearde, and saith<br />
hee doth knowe what Port shee did belong to when she was seized on but remem=<br />
breth not the name thereof having not his Inventary aforesayd about<br />
him and further cannot answere/
To the 5th hee cannot answere having heard nothing touching any<br />
licence given by the Governor of Barbados or desyred by the Master of the ''Strong''<br />
''Rowland'' or his Company to trade there/
