To the first hee saith hee was required by the producent to testifie the<br />
truth in this cause who gave him then 12 ''d'' towards his charges and more hee<br />

Stepney and County of Middlesex Mariner aged forty three<br />
yeares or thereabouts a wittnesse sworne and examined saith<br />
and deposeth as followeth videlicet./
To the first second third 4th 5th 6th and 7th articles of the sayd allegation<br />
hee saith that upon Thursday next after Midsomer day last past or<br />
thereabouts the arlate John Tottey came to this deponent and told him this deponent<br />
that his shipp (meaning the ''Edward and John'' arlate) layd at or neere Greenwich [?hole GUTTER]<br />
and that there had a lighter layne two or three dayes to take in goods which were<br />
on board and belonging to his freighters, and that his shipps company would<br />
not unlade and deliver the sayd goods into the sayd lighter and therefore desyred<br />
this deponent and seaven others to come on board the sayd shipp and helpe to<br />
unlade the sayd goods whereupon this deponent and one Richard Kenney and<br />
[BLANK IN MANUSCRIPT] Richardson James Wallis [BLANK IN MANUSCRIPT] holsted and others to the [?number GUTTER]<br />
of seaven beside this deponent went aboard the sayd shipp with the sayd Tottey [?to GUTTER]<br />
unlade the sayd goods out of the sayd shipp into the sayd lighter, and the<br />
sayd Tottey in order thereto spake to his shipps company to open the hatches<br />
that the goods might bee delivered on board the sayd lighter but the sayd<br />
shipps Company refused to open them and to worke about [?XX GUTTER]<br />
the delivery of them, but the sayd Tottey notwithstanding caused his servant<br />
to open the sayd hatches and this deponent and the sayd other seaven men thereupon<br />
fell to worke and unladed divers goods from aboard the sayd shipp and<br />
put them into the sayd lighter and the sayd Tottey perceiving that his<br />
Shipps company would not helpe to worke and that hee had not a sufficient numbere and that hee had not a sufficient number +
