twenty yeares or thereabouts a witnes sworne and<br />
examined saith and deposeth as followeth. videlicet.

To the first article of the sayd Libell This deponent saith That in the monethes of<br />
ffebruary and March 1654. and March, Aprill May and June 1655. the<br />
arlate John Carey the plaintiffs late husband was intrusted with and had<br />
in his possession a good quantity of copper barrs which he had full and<br />
sufficient power to dispose of whiche he did sell as hereafter is expressed<br />
And the same att the tyme and place they were sold were well worth<br />
the summe of one hundred and fourteene pounds five shillings<br />
six pence or thereabouts. which he knoweth for that within the sayd<br />
tyme he was Boatswayne of a certayne shipp called the ''Anne'' whereof<br />
the sayd John Carey was Master wherein the sayd Copper Barrs were,<br />
and out of which they were sold and delivered as hereafter is<br />
sett forth. And otherwise he cannot depose.
To the second and third Articles of the sayd Libell and to the Bill thereunto annexed<br />
now shewne to and perused by him hee saith that the sayd John Carey<br />
in or about the moneth of ffebruary 1654 did depart from this port of<br />
London in his sayd shipp the ''Anne'' whereof hee was Master as aforesayd<br />
on a voyage to Ginny and carryed with him thither the foresayd Copper<br />
barrs, and arrived there with them and ther sold the same unto the<br />
arlate Gilbert Christopher for the full summe of one hundred and<br />
fourteene pounds five shillings six pence lawfull money of England,<br />
And thereupon on or about the fourteenth day of June 1655. last<br />
past the sayd Gilbert Christopher did in the Port of Guinney give<br />
a Bill under his hand and seale to the sayd John Carey for the payment<br />
of the sayd one hundred and fourteene pounds five shillings six<br />
pence for the sayd Copper barrs, and the Bill now shewne him was<br />
and is the sayd very originall bill and the sayd Gilbert Christopher<br />
did signe seale and deliver the same as his Act and deed to the sayd<br />
John Carey. All which he knoweth to be true for that he was Boatswayne<br />
of and in the sayd shipp ''Anne'' the foresayd voyage, and did know of and<br />
was made privy to the sayd sale and was present att the signing sealing<br />
ánd delivery of the sayd Bill, and did att Ginny upon or about the<br />
sayd fourteenth day of June subscribe his name thereto as a witnesse<br />
And doth now acknowledge and declare upon his Oath, that the words [Walter<br />
Elton] att the foot of the sayd bill were and are this deponents name and<br />
handwriting, and that the Contents of the sayd Bill were and are true<br />
