Character, and firmed and sealed with the like firme and Seale, and having<br />
knowne Gabriel Jansen the subscriber thereof who is the Principall Customer at<br />
Gottenburgh for severall yeares last, and hath seene and perused severall<br />
letters sent by the said Gabriel Jansen to the Residents of Sweden here at<br />
London subscribed and sealed with the like firme and seale, And for that hee<br />
hath at Gottenburgh aforesaid seene and observed that the bookes of<br />
Entries of goods there are duely and fairely kept in such manner that<br />
full fath and Creditt was and is and ought to be given thereunto, hee is<br />
therefore fully assured and convinced in Conscience of the trueth of the<br />
premisses, and of the said schedule or Extract out of the said bookes of<br />
Entries of the Customes of Gottenburgh, and that the Contents thereof were<br />
and are reall and triue and so had and done as therein is contained. And further<br />
to this article hee cannot depose./
To the second article of the said Alleagtion, and to the second and third schedules<br />
therein mentioned and thereunto annexed, and now seene and perused<br />
by this examinate hee saith and deposeth, That hee well knoweth the arlate<br />
Martin Thison Ankerholme, President Norrens and the rest of the<br />
Owners of the said shipp ''Charity'' and of her lading in Controversie, all<br />
Citizens of Gottenburgh and inhabitants there or neere thereunto, and<br />
all Subjects of the king of Sweden, And to the first of the schedules<br />
mentioned in the said article as an Extract out of the Protocoll of Gottenburgh,<br />
hee saith hee is in Conscience fully assured, That the Contents thereof were<br />
and are true and reall, and that the same was and is sealed with the<br />
Seale of the said Citie of Gottenburgh, and subscribed with the handwriting of<br />
the arlate Nils Carstenson Secretarie of the said Citie, And to the third<br />
schedule arlate, hee saith the same was and is also, as hee firmely beleeveth<br />
sealed with the Seale of the said City, this deponent by meanes of this relation to<br />
the Agents or Residents of the Crowne of Sweden here at London, having<br />
seee perused and observed sevearall letters and other writings from the Magis=<br />
tates of that City, (many of them concerning the Cause in question.) all sealed<br />
with the said seale, and severall subscribed with the same manner of firme<br />
And further to this article and schedules annexed hee cannot depose./
To the latter part of the 4th article and schedule therein mentioned annexed<br />
to the same, and now seene and perused by this examinate, hee saith and<br />
deposeth, That the Magistrates of the said Citie of Gottenburgh and Owners aforesaid<br />
have sent over Mr Lydinius this deponents Contest a person of quality, for<br />
and as Syndicus of that Citie from Gottenburgh to this Citie<br />
to agitate and intermediate for them, and to endeavour to obtaine<br />
restitution of the said shipp ''Charity'' and her lading in question, to which<br />
end and effect they have under the Seale of the said City constituted and<br />
