To the last hee saith that hee knoweth not … To the last hee saith that hee knoweth not who surveyed the wyne and oyle [?XX GUTTER]
before the breaking of the longers, but saith that those casks both of wine and
oyle which were stanch and good, and found full were by Command of the [?master GUTTER]
of the ''Pilgrim'' put from on shippboard into lighters, and those that were otherwise
were left on board and surveyed afterwards by the Masters of the Trinity house
who hee saith found noe fault wityh the stowage, but with the defectivenesse
of the Casks, which defect of the Casks hee this deponent verily beleeveth
proceeded from the sayd ''Pilgrims'' being forcibly driven a-ground hard laden
by the ''Exeter Merchant'' and by her falling fowle of her as aforesayd, and beleeveth
the sayd casks was reasonable tight before the damage aforesayd was done by
reason soe little oyle was pumped out in the voyage betwixt Pharo and
London And saith saving his foregoeing deposition hee cannot further depose./
