To the 21th Article of the said Allegation … To the 21th Article of the said Allegation, hee saith and deposeth, That<br />
hee knoweth onely the arlate Roger ffowke who was and is Consull<br />
at Cyprus, and one other who is his brother, but the name at present<br />
unknowne to this deponent and saith both they and the said Richard<br />
Chewne were and are commonly accompted to be and trade in<br />
Consortshipp togeather, and beleeveth what is done by any<br />
of them in such their Consortshipp was and is according to the Custome<br />
of and amongst Merchants approved of by the rest. And further<br />
hee cannot depose/
Upon the rest of the article of this Allegation hee is not examined by the<br />
direction of the partie producent./

1654: on the behalfe of the said parties producent/: [CENTRE HEADING]
To the 7th Article of the said Allegation hee saith and deposeth, That<br />
it was and is an usuall thing for those which lade Cotton wooll<br />
at Scanderoone Cyprus and other parts of Turkey to ramm and steeve<br />
the same downe with Engines as hard as possibly they cann, and so that in<br />
the unlading thereof the sacks wherein the same are contained doe ordinarily<br />
teare and breake in peeces, insomuch That the Owners thereof or others<br />
intrusted with such unlading doe at such time usually provide canvas to<br />
repaire the breaches made therein, to prevent the losse which otherwise<br />
would accrue, but as for Gauls hee saith, they are ordinarily stowed onely<br />
lightly without any such force or ramming. The premisses hee well knoweth<br />
and hath observed by and in severall Turkey Voiaages wherein hee hath seene<br />
and observed the manner of lading and unlading the sorts of goods predeposed.<br />
And further cannot depose./

To the second hee saith, hee hath sailed and served in and belonged to<br />

And saith one other passenger (whose name hee knoweth not) came aboard<br />

Legorne, and another woman passenger who was also landed at Legorne<br />
And otherwise referring himselfe to his foregoeing deposition hee cannot<br />
further depose./
To the third hee saith, hee this deponent first knewe the interrate Richard<br />
Chewne at Scanderoon the Voiage in question, And saith That the<br />
