of Middlesex maryner aged 48 yeares or<br />
thereabouts a witnes sworne and Examined saith<br />
and deposeth as followeth./
To the first article of the said allegation this deponent saith and deposeth<br />
that hee was one of the Company of the shipp ''dove'' whereof Walter Cable was and is master the voyage in<br />
question which was about the beginning of August last past, and<br />
saith that from the tyme that the said shipp the ''Dove'' went out of<br />
the Thames untill shee came to Tinmouth she did never touch<br />
violently meet with or fall fowle of any shipp or vessell whatsoever<br />
neither did shee fall foule touch or strike the shipp the ''Successe''<br />
arlate in the place called the Well arlate: all which this deponent<br />
knoweth being present and aboard the said shipp the said voyage<br />
and further cannot depose./
To the second article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth<br />
that whilest the shipp the ''Dove'' lay att the Scheilds near<br />
Newcastle, in th emoneth of August last past the Master of the<br />
shipp the ''Successe'' arlate (whom this deponent hath since seen and<br />
knowne) did send a boate aboard the shipp ''dove'' and asked for<br />
the boy of the shipp, and told him there was an uncle of his<br />
was come out of the countrey to see him, whereuppon the boy<br />
went a shoare, where the said master of the ''Successe'' carryed him<br />
to an alehouse and gave him a drink and would have<br />
had him drinke more then hee could bear, and urged him to<br />
say and confesse that the shipp ''Dove'' did overrunn the ship<br />
the ''Successe'' or to that effect, all which passages on shoare this deponent was told<br />
by the said Boy who also since hath showed this deponent the<br />
said Master of the ''Successe'': And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the third article of the said allegation this deponent saith and<br />
deposeth that the Bowe of the shipp the ''Dove'' mended att<br />
