To the Interrogatories:- [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing depositions. And<br />
otherwise negatively. And further cannot depose./
To the second hee saith the shipp ''Porto Port Merchant'' wherein this<br />
rendent the Voyage in Controversie came in to Porto Port harbour<br />
about the latter end of ffebruary last past, as hee now remembreth the<br />
time, but was not ready to depart thence till about the latter end of<br />
Aprill last past, and that shee was fully laden and came neere to the<br />
said barr about 6. or 7. daies, as hee [?XX] remembreth, before the ''John''<br />
and some other shipps passed the same togeather, and saith the said shipp<br />
''Porto Port Merchant'' did not then passe the said barr, for that her<br />
merchants occasions did detaine them at Porto Port for about 7. daies<br />
after. And otherwise saving his foregoeing deposition hee cannot depose,/:
To the third hee saith hee doeth not at present remember, nor can<br />
call to minde that any shipp or shipps came inwards over the said barr<br />
upon or about the 8th day of March interrate, or during the time the said<br />
shipp ''John'' laye there in a readinesse to passe the same, and saith the wind<br />
during that time was much more favourable for shipps to come in, then to goe to sea<br />
over the said barr, so farr as this deponent observed as aforesaid./
To the 4th hee referreth himself to his foregoeing deposition, And further cannot<br />
depose./
To the 5th hee saith hee knew the Master of the shipp ''John'' interrate at<br />
Porto Port interrate, but knoweth none of his Companie except by<br />
sight only, And otherwise saving his foregoeing deposition hee cannot<br />
depose, saving this deponent heard some rumours of a protest made at Porto<br />
Port aforesaid concerning the said shipp ''John'', but knoweth not nor [?ever]<br />
heard or understood any certainty thereof:-/
To the 6th hee saith hee knoweth not how many of the Pilotts interrate<br />
there are at Porto Port aforesaid, but knoweth 2. or 3. of them by their<br />
Christen names, videlicet 2. by the name of Manoel, and one by the name of<br />
Johan, and saith hee never observed any badge or marke which they<br />
were to be distinguished from other Pilots, And otherwise saving his<br />
foregoeing deposition negatively, And further cannot depose./
To the 7th hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition. And further<br />
cannot depose, saveing hee beleeveth the hamburgher shipp predeposed<br />
was of the burthen of about 160. tonns.
