for theise foure yeares last past or thereabouts, and well knoweth that<br />
hee the said Le Bretan was imprisoned about a yeare and halfe<br />
since at a place in ffrance neere Nantes at the sute of the producents<br />
Mathew Quine and John Madyn when this deponent hath<br />
knowne for theise 6 yeares last at least,<br />
and saith the<br />
said Le Bretan got there out of prison and was released, and<br />
this deponent there sawe and spake with him after such his<br />
release and heard him say and acknowledge that hee had bin there<br />
imprisoned at the sute of the said Quine and Madyn, and that hee<br />
had gotten libertie and release from prison against their [?liking], and<br />
will, and that hee had made them noe satisfaction for their<br />
losse and dammage sustained by him or to that effect; And that<br />
hee was soe got at libertie without their liking and consent and<br />
had made them noe satisfaction hee saith was commonly said and<br />
reported at Nantes and thereabouts amongest such as knew them<br />
And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the second article hee saith and deposeth that about foure yeares since<br />
this deponent hath heard severall<br />
of the friends and assistants of the said Le Bretan much menace and threaten the said<br />
Quine and Madyn who were then at Saint Malo's, and hee well<br />
knoweth as hee saith that through the sanger they were in by<br />
the said threats and plots against them, they the said Quine<br />
and Madyn were constrained to deser and leave that countrey<br />
and come for England, not daring to make longer stay there<br />
but shift away for their securitie, this deponent seeing them<br />
embarque themsselves at Saint Malo's and came away in the shipp<br />
the ''Pellican'' of Saint Malo's, And otherwise hee cannot depose.
