remaining in the hands of some of the Offi … remaining in the hands of some of the Officer of this Commonwealth. And<br />
otherwise saving his following deposition hee saith hee canno depose.
To the 4th and schedules annexed hee saith That in or about the beginning videlicet upon the 3rd day of the moneth of June<br />
last past the said producent received from his said ffactors two letters of advise<br />
with the two schedules or bills of lading arlate inclosed therein [?] annexed to the said allegation for and concerning<br />
the ladeing of the said respective parcells of silver and moneys laden for his<br />
the producent accompt, Which said bills of lading were and are two of the <br />
Originiall bills of ladeing signed at or neere Cadiz by the said John de Vos, and <br />
the Contents thereof were and are reall and true, and soe had and done as<br />
therein is contained, which hee knoweth being as aforesaid Cashier and<br />
Bookekeeper to the said producent, and immediately after the receipt of the said letters<br />
and bills of ladeing, as predeposed the said Edward Peters communicated them<br />
unto this depnent who diligently perused them, and entred them into the booke<br />
of accompt as aforesaid, and is well acquainted with the handwriting of the <br />
said John de Vos wherewith the said bills of lading are firmed and with<br />
the handwriting of one Herman Lamotte brother to the said John Lamotte<br />
wherewith one of the said bills are filled up, and the other with the<br />
handwriting of the said Elias [?Ertwegh], this deponent by frequent letters of<br />
Correspondency and particularly by one off the said Ertwegh [?XXXning] the silver by his laden [?] [?] and bills of ladeing of the same respective handwritings<br />
being perfectly versed and experienced in the same. And further cannot depose.
To the last hee saith his foregoing deposition is true.
To the Interrogatories [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first negatively.
To the second hee saith hee hath knowne the said Edward Peters for 6 yeares<br />
last past or thereabout John Lamotte 4 yeares and Elias [?Ertwegh] interrate for about 6 yeares<br />
by Correspondency. <br />
And otherwise negatively and further cannot depose.
To the third hee saith hee was not present at the lading of the silver predeposed<br />
And otherwise saving his foregoing deposition hee saith hee cannot depose.
To the fourth hee saith the interrate Edward Peters is Antwerper borne<br />
and hath for divers yeares last past dwelt with his wife and family in the<br />
Kipdorp street in Antwerp, and the said John Lamotte a Native of <br />
Brudges in fflander and the said Elias Ertwegh of Dunquirke, and both<br />
of them batchelors and have lived at Antwerp and Cadiz for all the time of this deponent<br />
knowledge of them personnally and by letters of Correspondency.
To the 5. and 6. interrogatories hee saith hee was not present at the signing of the bills of lading interrate, and otherwise saving his foregoing deposition hee saith hee cannot depose.
To the 7th hee saith hee verily is persuaded and assured for the reasons predeposed,<br />
That the bills of lading annexed to the Allegation are reall and true, and no [waid?]<br />
fictitious or Colourable. And otherwise cannot depose.
To the 8th 9. and 10th hee saith, That saving his foregoing deposition hee cannot depose.
To the 11th hee saith hee knoweth and is fully [?ConXXiced] in Conscience, That the <br />
silver predeposed was and is really for the proper use and accompt of the said<br />
producent, and that no subject of the King or States interrate had or hath<br />
