likewise saw a letter of advise which he had written and was to send<br />
to Nicholas de Grout merchant of Antwerpe certifying therein that<br />
he the sayd Michael Perry had sent the goods money and plate above<br />
mentioned in the sayd shipps the ''Sampson'' and ''Salvador'' to be delivered att<br />
Ostend, and in the sayd letter ordered him the sayd Nicholas Grout in case<br />
of his the producents absence to receive the sayd goods and sylver of and<br />
from the masters of the respective shipps whereupon the same were laden,<br />
and did allso in the sayd letter advise and acquaint the sauyd Nicholas<br />
Grout, that he had in the Bills of Lading caused the same moneys<br />
and plate to be entred for the Accompt and Risco of Arnaut<br />
Van Haesdonck of Hamburgh, but that the same was done onely the better to<br />
preserve and save them in case they should have bene mett withall by the ffrench<br />
and that they did indeed belong oneley to him the sayd Michael Perry and were<br />
laden for his Accompt and adventure. And this deponent further saith that<br />
the sayd moneys plate and goods were and are the proceed of Linnen Clothes<br />
Lace and peice goods of fflanders which the sayd Producent receyved<br />
out of fflanders and sold in Spaine to and for his owne proper Accompt<br />
And further he cannot depose. saving he saith that he hath deposed of the<br />
number of the peices of eight in the sayd baggs by the declaration of the producent<br />
att Saint Lucar, and the entryes he made of them in his bookes there, and their entryes<br />
in the bills of lading, and likewise by the bulke of the baggs themselves, and<br />
of the weight of the sayd barr of sylver by weight stamped thereon as it came<br />
from the Indies, and by the visible quantity thereof. and of the number of<br />
the bundles of sassaparilla by the relation of the producent, and entryes of the<br />
same made in the sayd bills of lading and in the producents owne booke as aforesayd
To the second he saith that after the lading aboard of the sayd baggs of money<br />
aboard the ''Sampson'' as aforesayd the Purser of the sayd shipp signed three bills of<br />
lading for the same of one tenor in the presence and sight of this deponent and<br />
others, And saith likewise that after the ladeing of the sayd barr of<br />
sylver and baggs of money aboard the ''Salvador'' the arlate Christian Cloppenbergh signed six<br />
bills of lading for the same videlicet three of one tenor for the barr of sylver and<br />
three more of one tenor for the sayd baggs of moneyes in the sight and presence<br />
of this deponent and John Stueten Paep and others, the sayd bills being<br />
signed by the sayd Cloppenbergh and Purser of the ''Sampson'' respectively att<br />
their lodging in Cadize. And saith he beleiveth the sayd Cloppenbergh<br />
signed allso six bills more three of one tenor for the sayd Chocolat, and three<br />
of one tenor for the sayd Sassaparilla. And otherwise he cannot depose.
