Merchant aged thirty yeares or thereabouts<br />
a witnes sworne and examined deposeth<br />
and saith as followeth videlicet.
To the first Article of the sayd Allegation this deponent saith and deposeth<br />
that he hath knowne the arlate Michael Perrey a mercchant and Inhabitant<br />
of Saint Lucar in Spaine for theis eight yeares last past, or thereabouts, and saith<br />
that he this deponent being att his howse in Saint Lucar in the moneth of<br />
September last past neer the beginning of the sayd month there saw<br />
all the moneys sylver plate and goods arlate and hereafter specified<br />
(the case of Chocolat onely excepted) in the quiet possession of him the<br />
sayd Michael Perrey who then told this deponent that he intended to<br />
send the same into fflanders upon his owne Accompt in some of the<br />
shipps then lyeing att Cadize bound for those parts, And accordingly<br />
he soone after putt the sayd moneyes sylver and goods aboard a small<br />
vessell wherein the same were brought safe to Cadize arlate. And<br />
there videlicet toward the latter end of the sayd month of September and beginning of October this<br />
deponent saw him lade aboard the shipps ''Sampson'' and ''Salvadore''<br />
arlate then riding att their respective anchors in the Bay of Cadiz<br />
that is to say the sayd Michael Perrey laded aboard the sayd shipp the<br />
''Sampson'' Otto George Master two baggs severally sealed and marked<br />
with the first marke in the margent, conteyning in them six hundred<br />
three score and one Peru peices of 8/8 more or lesse, this deponent<br />
being then aboard the ''Sampson'', and also John Stueten Paep and<br />
one Diego Miesters besides the Purser of the sayd shipp and the<br />
producent with others whom this deponent remembreth not. And further<br />
saith that the arlate Michael Perrey laded aboard the shipp the<br />
''Salvador'' Christian Cloppenbergh Master, one barr of sylver weighing<br />
one hundred and seventeene markes and three ounces more or lesse<br />
marked with the second marke or markes in the margent. And<br />
allso two baggs of money conteining together four hundred<br />
Mexico peices of eight marked with the third marke in the<br />
margent. And allso one Case conteining a quantity of Chocolat<br />
wrapped upp in a linnen Cloth and marked with the fourth marke<br />
in the margent, which sayd parcell of Chocolat was not brought<br />
from Saint Lucar, but bought att Cadiz by a freind of the producent<br />
att Cadiz by name Diego Vandew[?ire]. And allso six [?SeXXX]<br />
conteyning three hundred seventy four bundles of Sassaparilla<br />
without markes; this deponent being present and aboard the sayd<br />
shipp ''Salvador'' when the sayd bagg of sylverm and the sayd bag<br />
of Mexixo moneyes were laden, and allso the aforesayd John Stueten Paep<br />
and the Master of the shipp with the producent together with other [?XX]<br />
whom this deponent particularly cannot call to mynd. And saith that<br />
he understood that the sayd Chocholat and Sassaparilla was [?brought]<br />
on board some few dayes before the lading of the sayd barr and<br />
baggs, as the producent himselfe and allso the Master and some of the Officers of the ''Salvador'' did [?XX]<br />
