And he saith, he is well assured that the Masters and Company of the<br />
sayd respective shipps schedulat did take notice of the sayd fight for<br />
that they tacked about in assistance of the Hollands Men of warr as<br />
aforesayd, and afterwards fledd from the ''Elizabeth''; And they so<br />
fleeing were fallen upon by the ''Elizabeth'' and taken by her, but<br />
did not strike to her till she had made severall shott against them.<br />
And otherwise he cannot depose saving that he everily beleiveth that<br />
the Masters and Companyes of the sayd severall shipps did and doe<br />
well know, and could not but observe and take notice that the sayd two<br />
shipps of warr that so fought the ''Elizabeth'' as aforesayd were Hollands<br />
Men of warr.
To the ninth article of the sayd allegation This deponent saith that the sayd shipps<br />
schedulat being subdued and come by the Lee of the ''Elizabeth'', the foresayd<br />
Captaine Myngs commanded their boates aboard him, and secured about 18.<br />
of their maisters, and manned four of their vesssells, but whether any<br />
gunnes were primed and [?Lingstockes] lighted standing by them in the<br />
sayd vessells he cannot depose.
To the eleventh article of the sayd allegation This deponent saith that there was not<br />
any English shipps besides the ''Elizabeth'' within shott of the sayd shipps<br />
schedulat, or any of them untill they had yeilded to the ''Elizabeth frigot''<br />
and were subdued by her. And otherwise he cannot depose.
To the twelfth article of the sayd allegation he saith he cannot depose.
