John de Windt, ffrederick Bevia, daniell da Leon, ffrancis Panninck<br />
don Josephs and ffrancis Peralti, Robert Jacomo, Peter Vanderb[?erck]<br />
and himselfe and [?him] for her with their moneys, this deponent being privie<br />
to the said buying and selling. And saith hee the said Peter Vanderberck (since<br />
deceased) was borne in or about Courtrick in fflanders and was commonly<br />
reputed a native of fflannders and a subiect of the king of Spaine, and that<br />
the arlate Cornelius Leiman upon the death of the said Vanderberck<br />
bought his the said Vanderbercks part being an eighth part of the said shipp<br />
and that the said producents have ever since their said buying bin and are<br />
the true and lawfull owners of the said shipp and of her tackle and furniture<br />
and for such commonly accompted and reputed namely the said Vincent Ban<br />
Campen, John de Wint, ffrederick Bevan, Robert Jacomo Corneluis<br />
Le[?mman] and Otto George were and are respectively and each of them owners<br />
of an eighth part, daniel de Leon and ffrancis Pannick ioyntly of an eighth<br />
part, and Josph and ffrancis Peralti of an eighth part of the said shipp<br />
and of her tackle and furniture, and for such commonly accompted and reputed<br />
which hee knoweth being stiersman of the said shipp, and having soe bin neare<br />
foure yeares last and taking notice that her fitting and furnishing, from time<br />
to time hath bin at their cost and chardges, And otherwise hee cannot depose<br />
saving the said Otto George was constituted master of the said shipp by the said owners.
To the second hee saith the said Vincent Van Campen, daniel da Leon and<br />
ffrancisco Pannicq were and are commonly accompted natives of hamburgh,<br />
John de Wint of Iypres in fflanders, and Corneluis Lemon a native of Antwerp<br />
ffrederick Bevia, and don Joseph and ffrancisco Peralti natives of<br />
Sevill in Spaine and Otto George of a place in the dukedom of Lunenburgh<br />
in Germania; And saith that the said Vincent Van Campen, John<br />
de Windt and ffrederick Bevia have for all the time arlate lived in<br />
Cadiz, where this deponent hath knowne and seene them to be dwelling,<br />
and that the said daniel da Leon, ffrancis Pannick, don Joseph and<br />
ffrancisco Peralti, Robert Jacomo and Corneluis Lemon have bin for<br />
all the time arlate and are commonly reputed inhabitants of Sevill. And<br />
saith that the said Otto George hath of this deponents sight and knowledge lived<br />
in and bin a burgher of Lubeck for theise tenn yeares last or<br />
thereabouts, and kept his wife and familie there, and was and is a<br />
subbiect of that free state, and the rest of the persons arlate were and<br />
are commonly accompted subiects of the kinge of Spania, and none<br />
of them subiects of the United States of the Netherlands or of the king<br />
of ffrance. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the third hee saith that the said Otto George hath made severall voyages<br />
with the said shipp as to Cales, Genoa, Naples, Castila [?XXX]<br />
and other parts in the straights and that in the space of theise last<br />
three yeares (during which hee this deponent hath bin in her as stiersman of her) shee<br />
hath never bin at Amsterdam or other port under the dominion of<br />
the States of the United Netherland Provinces.
To the fourth hee saith that the companie of the said shipp the ''Sampson''<br />
were and are for the most past English, Scotts, hamburgers, Lubeckers<br />
and others, and otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the fifth hee saith that the last ports from which the said shipp came<br />
to Cadiz were Genoa and Ligorna, whence she arived at Cadiz in June 1652 and there<br />
received her lading of silver and other goods there, shee departed thence in October<br />
last for Ostend, and in her course came into the downes to get a pilot for<br />
Ostend or for dunquirke (which her companie then understood to be retaken by the Spaniards)<br />
but lying at an anchor in the downes, shee and lading were in or about the end<br />
of October last seized by Captaine Penrose in the service of this Commonwealth<br />
and afterwards was brought up into the river of Thames, all which hee knoweth<br />
being stiersman of her as aforesaid.
