Steersman of the said shipp the ''Salvador'' aged 38 yeares<br />
or thereabouts sworne and examined.
To the first Interrogatorie hee saith and deposeth that John Baptista [?yourker]<br />
Jeronimo [?Sniter]. Jeronimo Peterson, dierick Rubke, and the Skipper<br />
his precontest all hamburgers and natives and Inhabitants of hamburgh<br />
and others of hamborowe whose names hee nowe remembreth not were<br />
and are the owners of the said shipp and of her tackle and furniture, and<br />
saith that all the aforementioned persons have lived in hamburgh all their times<br />
and have kept and doe keepe their wives and families there, And otherwise<br />
hee cannot depose, saving that the said owners are subiects of the State of hamb[?urgh]
To the second Interrogatorie hee saith that hee came first aboard the said shipp<br />
about six monethes since, but was at hamborowe (where hee hath dwelt<br />

that shee was built by the said owners; this deponent seeing them provide<br />

Christian Cloppenburgh, who hath bin master of her ever since shee<br />
was built, and of this deponents knowledge did oversight and take<br />
care for her building, and was put in master by the said owners.
To the fourth hee saith the said shipp never belonged to Amsterdam or<br />
other place of the dominions of the States of the United Netherlands<br />
and saith shee came last from Cadiz next before her seizure and<br />
otherwise hee cannot answer saving that all the voyages the said shipp hath<br />
made since this deponents first comming to serve in her hath bin from<br />
Cadiz (where hee first came into her) to Barcelona to carry soldiers<br />
for the kinge of Spaine, and thence shee came back to Cadiz in her<br />
ballast, and there tooke in her lading in question and thence came on<br />
her last voyage wherein shee was taken.
To the fifth hee saith that the said shipp at the time of her seizure was<br />
laden with wooll, hides, tobaccoe Campecha wood, wine, and cochenala and<br />
silver, the quantitie of each of the said commodities hee knoweth not<br />
but saith they are sett downe in the bills of lading and masters and this deponents books,<br />
and saith that the said goods and silver were all laden at Cadiz by<br />
severall merchants and factors, and consigned as in the said vills<br />
and papers is expressed, which hee knoweth being present at the said<br />
lading and seeing the lading thereof, And otherwise hee cannot depose<br />
hee not being made acquainted by the laders for whose accompt the said<br />
goods were, and saving that there were 20 peeces of ordnance aboard at<br />
the time of the said seizure, 24 muskets and firelocks, 12 pistolls, 12<br />
pikes twelve swords and 9 or 10 barralls of powder, and two sutes of sailes, the one<br />
new the other old, Ans daving that the said<br />

To the 6 hee saith that the master signed bills of lading for the said goods<br />
and moneys, which hee saith were true and reall and came to the hands of<br />
the Parliamants officers at dover, saving that the skipper through [?XXX]<br />
forgot some of his bills of lading when hee caried the rest aboard the<br />
Captaine that seized the said shipp, and when they came into the<br />
downes, the said Skipper who before was taken into the man of warr<br />
was permitted to come aboard his owne shipp where this deponent [?was]<br />
and searching in his chest to sea what hee had left there, hee there in<br />
this deponents presence found severall bills of lading lying by themselves<br />
which hee had signed for silver that was brought aboard when the said<br />
shipp was under saile to depart from Cadiz, which through hast hee<br />
had omitted to carry aboard the Captaine of the frigot of the Parliament<br />
that seized him, when hee was commannded aboard him with his paers<br />
