Examined upon the allegation given on the behalfe<br />
of the said Claymers.

sworne and Examined by the<br />
Interpretation of Signior Ferara and Signior<br />
Aurelius sworne allsoe for the same purpose.
To the first and second articles of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth<br />
That hee this deponent well knoweth the producents John Francisco<br />
Cordj and Paul[?o] Maria Cordj who when and for all the tyme allegate<br />
went and still ought to bee the true and lawfull owners proprietors<br />
and possessors of all the [?Rice] (except 12 chests only) and allsoe of fower<br />
chests of dates laden and put abord the ship the ''Royall'' arlate and<br />
for such were and are comonly accompted reputed and taken And saith<br />
that within the said tyme arlate. and more precisely in or about the Moneth<br />
of March last past the said John Francisco Cardj did lade and put<br />
the said Rice and dates abord the said ship the ''Ryall'' in the Port of Saffia (there<br />
being then about eight thousand Kintalls thereof and the said dates) to<br />
bee from thence transported in the said ship to Leghorne and there to<br />
bee delivered unto the said Paulo Maria Cordj for theire propper use<br />
and accompt All which hee knoweth to bee true because hee this deponent<br />
was at [?Saffia] where the said goods were soe laden abord the said<br />
shipp the ''Ryall'' and sawe the same soe done and afterwards did himselfe<br />
in another barque come from Saffia towards Leghorne in Company with<br />
the said ship when shee had the said goods abord. And otherwise hee<br />
cannot depose saveing that when the said goods were soe laden by the said<br />
John Francisco Cordj abord the said ship the ''Royall'' the arlate B[X]azia<br />
Soli[?e]nghietti was Commander of the said ship.
To the third article of the said Allegation hee saith that hee was not present<br />
when the bill of ladeing arlate was signed nor did hee see the said goods<br />
entred into any booke but well knoweth that upon the ladeing of any<br />
goods abord any ship in the parts where the said Rice and dates were laden it<br />
was and is the constant use and custome of the Commander or Purser of such ship<br />
to signe and give bills of ladeing for the same and to senter such goods<br />
soe laden abord their ship into the said ships booke made and kept<br />
for that purpose
To the fowerth article of the said Allegation hee saith and deposeth That after<br />
such tyme as the said John Franciscoe Cordj had<br />
soe taken the said Rice and dates abord the said ship the ''Tyall''<br />
the said ship of this deponents knowledge did depart and sett saile<br />
therewith from [?Raffia] towards tleghorne at which Port the same was to<br />
have bin deischarged as this deponent heard both the said Jo[?hn] Franci[?sco GUTTER]<br />
Cordj and diverse of the said ships company and others then and there say<br />
and affirme and as the publique fame and report then was at [?Raffia GUTTER]<br />
but where they met with the ship the ''Saint Martyn'' hee saith hee knoweth not<br />
for that hee this deponent with the barque in which he then was sailed another<br />
course and saith that the said ship before that tyme. And otherwise hee cannot<br />
deposend otherwise hee cannot<br />
