To the 6th he saith That in or upon the last day of June last past the said<br />
ship, did sett saile with the said lading of Corne bound directly for<br />
fflushing and in her Course thitherwards comeing nere the Ile of Wight the<br />
Master intending to see if he could find any Company to fflushing<br />
was about the 13th day of July now instant taken and seised by<br />
Captaine Hurley in the shipp the ''Constant'' arlate, and brought into Portsmouth<br />
where the said shipp and ladeing have ever since bin<br />
detained to the grate preiudice and damage of the said [?WXXXx] whose bill of<br />
ladeing Coquett and other writings were alsoe seised by the said hurley and company<br />
and amongst them the letter written from the said [WhXXx] unto the said<br />
Master to follow the order of the said Basserada and Coppins his ffactors, and from<br />
them theire letters to him the said Master to goe to donlo[?n], all which said letter<br />
bills of ladeing and other writeings hee saith were taken att<br />
the time when the said shipp was seised, and beleeveth that the said Hurley hath<br />
the same, and hath heard so much from the skipper of the shipp And further he<br />
cannot depose./
To the 7th article he saith That after such time as the said shipp was brought<br />
into Portsmouth The said producent was imprisoned and put into an house and<br />
there kept as a close Prisoner, insomuch as he was denyed pen ink[?e] and paper<br />
to write his [??mind] to the Owners of the said shipp concerneing the takeing<br />
thereof, and that when he this deponent had written his letters to that<br />
purpose the same were interceoted and detained Whereby he saith the<br />
said producent was constrained to make his escape from Portsmouth and did come<br />
hither to make his claime to the said shipp and goods as aforesaid And further hee cannot depose

To the first hee saith that he is Owner of one tun of the said wheate<br />
laden in the said shipp, And that if the said shipp were made prize it would<br />
bee one hundred fourescore and six Guilders losse and damage to him on<br />
his owne particuler interest in the said [XXXX], And otherwise negatively./
To the second hee saith that he hath knowne the producent these 14 or 15 yeares<br />
last past who is a dutchman borne in Tro[?vre] in Zelande, aged 23 yeares or<br />
thereabouts and a short thicke man and liveth and hath [?bine] in fflushing for these<br />
14 yeares or thereabouts, And lived {att} Trow[>re] before when hee was bbourne.
To the third hee saith that the shipp the ''Winter king'' did carry in her from holland<br />
hopps Hides wooll and blew factory for the Accompt of the producent and<br />
were laden att fflushing and ddischarged at Saint Mallows, and [?were XXXX] landed to such<br />
persons as bought the same of the said Master who received the money for them<br />
And otherwise hee knoweth not./
To the 4th he saith that he can write and rease written hand being dutch, and<br />
doth understand no language else but only a little of English and is a dutch[?man GUTTER]<br />
and subiect to the States of Zeland, And further negatively./
To the 5th he saith that the said Basserada Agent for the producent did freight<br />
the said shipp in ffrance att dowlan, [?wXXXXXX] the said shipp was taken, And that<br />
the Charterparty concerning the same was written in dutch, which he only saw but [XXX GUTTER]<br />
not reade the same, but saith that the producent was to pay the ffreight thereof<br />
if they had safely returned to [?fflushing], And further hee cannot answare
