John Brand (b. ca. 1615; d. ?). Mariner.
Foremastman of the ship the Mary Rose (Master: John Cole)
"The master of the Mary Rose requested this deponent to come and testify herein, and he was a foremast man of the Mary Rose and hath received all his wages for the said voyage".[1]
REsident in 1659 in Acton near Ipswich in the county of Suffolk.
Evidence from High Court of Admiralty
Forty-four year old John Brand deposed on December 1st 1659 in the High Court of Admiralty.[2] He was examined on an allegation on behalf of ffrancis Cole and others in the cause of "Nicholas Bradley Robert Marriot and others owners of the John of Ipswich against the Mary Rose and against ffrancis Cole and others".[3]
The case concened the coal ship the John coming foul of a second coal ship, the Mary Rose just after Michaelmas 1658 near Tinmouth haven.
