Evidence from High Court of Admiralty
Fifty year old Henry Sheere deposed in the High Court of Admiralty on February 25th 1656. He was examined on an allegation on behalf of Smith and Company in the case "Smith and Company against Page Ingram Body and Kendal".[3]

ADM 106/284/112 Folio 112: Isaac Woodgreene, Thomas Browne, Henry Sheere, Samuel Chamblett, John Tinker, Trinity House. They have examined Mr Cholwell's ability to command a galley. They observe that foreign Princes only employ men of several years' experience to command galleys. They do not believe Mr Cholwell capable of managing a galley in time of flight or in bad weather, nor is he fluent in Italian. They judge him as capable as any other man who has not had recent service of commanding a galley. 1673 Aug 13
