Transcription

Ad 5um arlum et secundam et 3ans scheduman annex deponit that
hee well knoweth (for the reasons aforesaid) the said second schedule
to bee of the hand of the said Sammuels other servant and the said third
schedule to be the said Samuels owne hand, and is assured of the
truth of the contents thereof, with this addition that the said
Elias is in part ownershipp therein as in the rest of their trade
with the said Arnold, which the said Sammuel well understands also
albeit them for brevitie and for respect to his father to whom hee alwaies yeeldeth hee makes
the addresses to his father Arnold Beake alone.

Ad 6 arlum deponit that hee hath heard and beleeveth that there
was a colourable bill of lading signed by the said master to the
end of avoiding seizure and confiscation in case of capture by the
enemies of this Realme, But of his certaine
knowledge the said goods were really laded for the accompt of the
said Arnold and Elias who did and doe run the sole adventure
thereof, and are by effects of theirs in the said Samuels hand
(which this deponent knoweth they there had) or otherwise to be paid
by them the said Arnold and Elias Beake, who of his knowledge
as aforesaid run the risco thereof

Ad 7 et 8 et schedulam deponit that hee well knoweth the arlate Peter Crosse
and hath seene letters from his this said brother from
Bourdeaux directed to the said Peter in this the said Peters hand
and thereby knoweth them to be correspondents, and this deponent
hath understood that the said Sammuel laded the time, place and [?aboard]
the shipp arlate for the said Peters accoont for London tenn peeces of

brandy of the marke in the margin which said Peter hee saith is
an English man (as this deponent taketh him) and lately
as hee hath heard lived in Billeter lane London, and having ?seen
the 4. 5. and 6th schedules annexed hee saith the
4th schedule being the bill of lading for the said
tenn peeces of brandy is filled up with the hand of one of the
servants of the said Sammuel, the 5th schedule being the factorie
for the same is of the hand of the other servant of the said Sammuel
and the 6th is the producents Sammels owne hand and hee beleeveth the
contents thereof to be true. Et alr nescit.

Ad 9 deponit that hee verily beleeveth the said tenn peeces of
brandy belong to the said Peter and were laded for his sole account and
that hee runneth the sole adventure thereof. Et alr nescit

Ad 10 et 11um deponit that this deponent hath understood and sawe
by letters that the said shipp with
her lading aforesaid in her course from Bourdeaux for this port
was met with and brought up to Porto and afterwards [?XXXX]
[?ChXXXXX] and plundred by a privateer having noe [?XXXXX]
[?Commission]. Et alr nescit.
