The same day [CENTRE HEADING]
The sayd Thomas Fridd upon Interrogatories/
To the first Interrogatory hee saith hee cometh to testifie the truth in this cause
being soe required by the producent henry Jelfe to whome hee is brother in
lawe the sayd Jelfe marrying this deponents sister And to the rest of
the Interrogatory hee answereth negatively./
To the 2.Interrogatory hee saith as before hee jath deposed that hee ws
present when the sayd Jelfe was hyred to goe master of the hoye the Catherine
and Thomas and that hee was hyred at the rate of twenty shillings a weeke
And further to this Interrogatory saving his foregoeing deposition hee can
not depose/
To the 2 hee cannot depose
To the 4th hee saith It will bee noe benefit to him in case the Interrate
Cleve be overthrowne in this cause And to the rest of the Interrogatory hee
answereth negatively./
To the 5th hee saith hee hath heard amongst Seamen that the sayd Jelfe
is an able and expert Seaman and further hee cannot answere/
To the 6th hee saith hee is noe Seaman and therefore cannot answere
to this Interrogatorie./
To the last Interrogatorie hee saith hee verily beleeveth and is persuaded in his
conscience that the producent hath not receaved satisfaction for his wages
claymed by his suite And saith the producent entered into the imployment of
Master of the sayd hoye about the beginning of March 1656 and left
the sayd imployment about Michaelmas next after And further hee cannot
depose/
