exclude the English totally from the said, and not to beleaguer or
take the said Town of Bantam, as this Deponent is in judgement
and [?cousneure] fully convinced by all the passages translations
and circumstances of their said pretended siege, that this Deponent did
or could observe during his abode in those parts in the quality
aforesaid. And further hee saith he cannot Depose to the [?fXXXX]

To the 10th Interrogarie hee saithe, That he hath sevrall times
seene and beene in the said Citie of Bantam, and well knoweth
That it is of a very large [?Circuit], strong and very populated
to the number of above twenty thousand fighting men at [?home],
Veryly beleeveth, and hath observved them to be men of
a [?arXiXe] and valiant condition, well ordered and [exXerred]
in armes, and generally to be so accompted, and that the said Citie
is extraordinarily well fortified especially towards the sea with strong walls,
and very faire Ordinance in great number and very
dextrous people to manage them. And further to this
interrogarie he answereth not./

To the 11th Interrogarie hee saith, That the said Dutch shipps [?who]
pretended to beleaguer Bantam at aforesaid were in number
sometimes five, sometimes six, as this Deponent saw and observed, and
that their usuall station was to the Northward of the said Island
of Polipanjan about 15 miles distant from Bantam, as the
Deponent judgeth and beleeveth it to be, and to the best of this Deponent's
judgement he verily beleeveth That the [?mariners] Souldiers and
companies of the said Dutch shipps, as sure true as the said
shipp Frederick was compelled to abide amongst them, did not
exceed the number of fower hundred persons. And further to
this Interrogarie hee saith he cannot answereth./ /

To the 12th hee saith, That it is publique and [Xotorious] That
the said Citie of Bantam is situate in the Island of great
Java interrate which is generally accompted an Island of a very great
extent and Circuit and that he knoweth not the true extent of [?the]
circuit thereof, but hath seene the Cards or mapps thereof
in Sevrall Indian places, and particularly this Deponent saith that
the mapp in this Interrogarie mentioned and now produced and
showed unto him, expressing the situation of the said City of Bantam
and diverse other maritime parts and places thereunto [?apaXX]
and [?arrangement], Doeth to the best of this Deponent's judgements [XXXX]
agree with and represent the position of the said City, and other
maritime parts thereabouts, as are therein expressed to will for the
many of them hee this [?expaiate] hath seene and observed. And
farther satisfaction referring himselfe to the said [XXXXX]
