1653, longe before which time hee saith the said shipp the John and
Conrard arived here at London, laden with other mens goods. And
otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the 38 hee saith that the said Alderman ffrederick and others
aforesaid by their frequent writing and orders used all possible
diligence (after the said goods were delivered to the said George
Norleigh at Porto fferrara), to get the same thence for this port
of London, but in regard noe shipps (that would take them in) came thence or from ligorne
they were forced to send and did send a shipp expressely to fetch them, but the
said goods could not be nor were brought hether before the moneth
of July or August last past 1654, And otherwise hee cannot
depose.
To the 40th, hee saith that the most
part of the Praemiums arlate have bin paid by the assured
arlate, and the rest must be paid according to agreement betweene
the Assurors and Assured, the premisses for what hath bin paid
hee deposeth having seene the accompts and receipts for the same,
And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the second hee saith hee was never at Porto
fferrara nor ligorne, and otherwise cannot answer saving as
aforesaid.
To the third hee saith hee knoweth Richard Chewne arlate
And otherwise hee cannot answer.
To the 5th hee holdeth it Prudence in a master to followe
his freighters orders and not to vary from the same, And
otherwise hee cannot answer.
To the 7th hee saith hee beleeveth it is usuall for factors
not having goods enough of the freighters, nor having order
to the contrary, to lade or permit goods to be laden for other mens
accompts, and that the masters usually take them in, being
laden for the [?same] port whereunto they are bound. And otherwise
hee cannot depose.
To the 10th hee cannot answer.
To the 18 hee saith that Alderman ffrederick, and Mr Thomas
Rowse are of the Turkey company, and otherwise hee cannot
answer.
To the 21 hee cannot depose.
To the 22 hee saith hee was never at Cyprus or Scanderoon,
and otherwise hee cannot answer.
To the 23th hee saith that Cottons are usually steeved.
And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the 24th hee cannot depose.
Upon the rest hee is not interrogated by direction of the ministrant.
