Transcription

To the 18th hee saith the freighters interrogated are of the Turkey
company, and otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the 19th hee cannot depose.

To the 20th hee cannot depose.

To the 21 hee cannot depose.

To the 22 hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition, and
that hee was never personally present at the lading of any
galls at Scanderon saving the time aforesaid. And otherwise
hee cannot depose, saving that it is the masters owne
fault if hee receives not his goods aboard at Cuprus and
Scanderon by weight.

To the 23th hee saith it is usuall to steeve cottons with
engines, but hee was never aboard to see the doing thereof,
And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the 24 hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition and
cannot otherwise depose.

To the last hee cannot depose.

Examined upon the foresaid allegation.

Michael ffrancis of the parish of Saint Martin Ludgate
London Merchant, aged 34 yeares or thereabouts sworne
and examined.

To the 25th article of the allegation of 45 articles hee saith
and deposeth that Captaine Badiley as hee went to Cyprus
sailed to Zant, and left word there that hee intended to
retourne thither from Cyprus as this deponent comming thither about a fortnight after such his departure was there informed and saith that hee did retourne accordingly
to Zant on or about the twelveth day of July 1652, which
hee knoweth to be true for that hee this deponent was then at
Zant and sawe such his retourne,
And saith that after such
retourne of the said Captaine Badiley to Zant, this deponent
went and was severall times aboard his shipp with him in
the Roade of Zant and was present with him when from Mr
Charles Longland of Ligorne, Agent there of the Commonwealth
of England and under the [?XXXX] of the said Mr Longland
there came letters to the said Captaine Badiley from Generall
Blake, purporting rgar gee doubted a breach with holland,
which letters this deponent heard read. And saith that before such
comming of the said letters there was a rumour but noe feare at Zant that there
was likelihood of a breach with holland, howbeit this deponent
