might have sold their Cotton woolls if they had had them here
which hee knoweth
being a Turkey marchant, and thereby well acquainted with the
prices and rates of such commodities. And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the 42th hee saith that the usuall Praemium upon goods from
Porto fferara or Ligorne to London for all the time arlate hath bin
and at present is after the rate of 5 li per Cent at least,
and for the most part it hath bin more. Which hee knoweth for
the reasons aforesaid. And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the 43th hee saith that Alderman ffrederick, ffrancis ffowke,
henry Chewne, and Thomas Rowse were and are merchants and
men that use greate trade beyond the seas, and saith that by reason
they had not their goods aforesaid delivered to them in London in
or before September 1652 (as hee conceiveth the said hughes might
have donne) they have lost the benefit of the proceeds thereof
ever since, the interest for which after the rate of 6 li
cent (which is the least that ought to be allowed to merchants
for their goods and moneys detained from them against their wills),
doth amount to the summe or valew of 790 li sterling per annum
(being upon 13178 li principall) and soe in proportion
for a lesser time than a yeare, and soe much (hee saith) is
reasonable that the said hughes should make satisfaction for,
And otherwise hee cannot depose.

Upon the rest not examined by direction of the producent.

To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]

To the second hee saith hee hath seene goods weighed at
Ligorne, but not at Porto fferara, And otherwise hee saith
hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid.

To the third hee saith hee well knoweth all the persons interrogated
And saith that all the three ffowkes interrogated are brothers to
ffrancis ffowke one of the parties in this sute, and saith that
none of the said parties lived or doe live at Scanderoon. but
William and Edward ffowke and Richard Chewne have lived at
Aleppo, And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the fifth Interrogatorie hee saith it were prudence in a
master of a shipp at Cyprus or elsewhere in the straights
with a convoy, to stay for such convoy and desire to [?him] his
company, if it were a matter left to his libertie and discretion,
but a master ought to followe his Charter partie and order
of his imployers, although the course prescribed by them
seeme not soe prudent unto him. And otherwise hee cannot answer.

To
