the Salvador to goe to hamburgh, and that hee hath not seene the
said shipp at hamborough since her first proceeding thence upon her
first voyage after her building. And otherwise saving his foregoeing
deposition hee cannot depose.

To the third hee saith hee well knew and knoweth him that was
master shipwright or workeman in the building of the said shipp
whose name hee saith is John henderson, but knoweth not the names
of any of the rest of the Workemen or servants, nor what countrey
they were, only some of them hee knew were hamburghers, and some
were strangers, amongest which hee taketh some to be hollanders,
and that the said henderson was alsoe a hollander, and saith
hee sawe noe money paid about the said building. And otherwise hee
cannot answer.

To the fourth hee saith hee referreth himselfe to the foregoeing
deposition, and otherwise cannot depose.

To the 5th negatively.

To the 6th hee saith hee beleeveth there are many men aswell in
Ansterdam as elsewhere, who albeit they live in a meane and
obscure fashion, are yet persons of good competent estates, and that a
man of a good competent estate may be part owner or owner of a shipp
And that such man being a saile maker may be a paart owner
of a shipp of good burthen.

Examined upon the foresaid allegation

Hendrick Slegar of hamborough Sailer one of the
company of the said shipp the Salvador, aged 23
yeares or thereabouts sworne and examined.

To the first article hee saith that the shipp the Salvador arlate
was built at hamborough originally in the yeare 1647, which hee
knoweth because hee wrought upon her in the said building and had
(being then a youth) halfe a Rix dollar weekely pay for his
said worke, and that hee soe wrought upon her for a quarter of
a yeare or thereabouts, and sawe her finished and launched in which
this deponent was assistant. And saith shee hath ever since
belonged to the port of hamborough, and for a shipp of and
belonging to hamborough and not to any other place shee hath bin ever since her said building
and is commonly accompted and reputed. And otherwise hee cannot
depose.

To the third hee saith that hee was in the said shipp at Cadiz in the
yeare 1652 and was one of her company, during all which time
of her being there shee was there commonly said, esteemed and reported
to be a hamborough shipp and to be belonging to the port of Hamburgh
