The answer of the foresaid Jurian Martenson to the
Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]

The first hee answereth negatively.

To the 2 negatively, saying hee was not present.

To the 3 negatively.

To the 5th hee hath not soe deposed.

To the 6th hee saith hee can speake the North sea language and lowe dutch
and noe other language, and that North sea is his mother tongue, and
other hee learnt in his youth

To the 7 hee can neithe reade nor write

To the 8th negatively.

To the 9 10th and 11 negatively.

To the 14 and 15 negatively.

To the 16 negatively.

To the 17 hee saith hee hath seene the said shipp the Salvador at Amsterdam
about foure yeares since.

To the 19 hee saith hee is a batchelour and one that useth seafaring for
wages for his subsistence, and hath noe constant dwelling, and hath bin here
in London above 12 weekes lastand lodgeth [?neare ?on] Mr Swanes

To the 22 hee hath not soe deposed.

To the 23 hee saith the said shipp the Mercury was the tyme aforesaid a
pinnace of about 180. lasts hamburgh built and the Prophet
Elias was allsoe a pinnace and otherwise hee remembereth not/:-

To the 24. 25. and 26th hee referreth himselfe to his foregoing deposition

To the 27th hee referreth himselfe to his foregoing deposition, and cannot
otherwise depose.

to severall subiects of severall States and provinces doe often meete

And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the 31th hee hath not soe deposed of anie Lord of Delph nor knoweth
the person And otherwise hee cannot depose savinge

To the 36th he saith he is noe Judge, and if he were he should Judge
accordinge to the Lawe, which hee now understandeth not in the case in question
