To the 42th hee saith that the usuall Premium of Assurance
from Porta fferara and ligorne to London for theise two yeares last hath
bin and is at and after the rate of 5 li per cent at least, And for
a reason of his knowledge of all the premisses hee saith that hee
hath bin a Turkie merchant for theise twelve yeares last or
thereabouts, and continually exercised in that course and way
of imployment, and for the most part of that time hath
lived in Aleppo and bin specially acquainted with merchants affaires
and transportations in and about the like matters as afore is deposed
And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the 43th hee saith that the arlate Alderman ffrederick
and other persons intimated in this article namely henry Chewne
ffrancis ffowke, and Thomas Rowse were and are merchants and men
that trade beyond the seas, which hee deposeth having knowne some
of them theise 8 or 9 yeares and the rest theise two yeares last or
thereabouts. And hee conceiveth them to have bin much preiudiced
by the detention of their goods anin question, both in the [?XXX] thereof being they
are not worth soe much as they were in the yeares 1652 and
1653, and alsoe in their losse of [?time] through want of
their estates (in the said goods) to proceede in their trade. And
saith that if the principall detained from them bee
13178 li sterling (as is alledged) that the interest at 6 li per cent
doth amount to 790 li per annorum and upwards.
And otherwise hee cannot depose.

Upon the rest hee is not examined by direction of the producent.

To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]

To the second hee saith hee was never at Porto fferrara, And
saith that hee conceiveth that in case Cottons and galls be
weighed and delivered nett into any shipp at Scanderoone and Ciprus and carried thence
and [?continue] a shipp board foure or five monthes and afterwards
be brought to Scanderoone or Ciprus againe and there weighed out
by the same weight whicxh they were weighed in by, they will want
of the first weight, but not soe if they were weighed and delivered
in drie, And otherwise hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid.

To the third hee saith that hee well knewe William and
Edward ffowke and Richard Chewne in Aleppo and
Roger ffowke at Cyprus, and saith that all the said
ffowkes are commonly reputed the brothers of ffrancis ffowke one of
the parties in this sute, And otherwise hee cannot depose saving
as aforesaid, and saving that the said Roger ffowke is commonly
accompted the elder of the said brothers, and was and(as hee beleeveth)
is Consull of the English nation at Cyprus.

To
