maketh foure pounds and thirteene ounces of English weight by usuall
and common computation, soe that thirtie thousand three hundred and ninetie
Rotolos (as this deponent hath cast the sume up) make in English weight
1305 C, 3 [?quarters] and 7 li of galls and referreth himselfe to the said [?bills], And
otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the 13th hee saith that if George hughes hath at Ligorne delivered
noe more Cotton in [?lieu] of the above said 296 kintalls and 34 Rotolo's
then 178389 pounds of Ligorne neate, hee hath by usuall computation
or merchants delivered short of what the said 296 kintalls and 34 Rotolo's
should containe in English weight 8821 pounds and 14 ounces as hee this
deponent hath cast the sume up, valewing or computing each pound Ligorne
to be 12 ounces English, and each Turkish Rotolo to be 4 pounds and
13 ounces English, as is the usuall reckoning and computation, And further
taht if hee hath delivered noe more galls then 183906 pounds of Ligorne
neate, hee hath delivered lesse than the Rotolo's 30390 should containe
(by computation) seaventie foure hundred one quarter and five pounds
and a halfe, after the aforesaid computation. And otherwise hee cannot
depose.
To the 14th hee saith that every Rotolo of Cyprus neate weight
maketh six pounds and five ounces of lighorne weight by common computation, and soe the
296 kintalls and 34 Rotolo's, or twenty nine thousand sixe hundred
and thirtie foure Rotolo's (which is one and the same number of neate
Cyprus weight) doe make of neate Ligorne weight 190151 pounds
and a halfe as hee hath cast the sume up., And otherwise referring
himselfe to the said bills, hee cannot depose.
To the 15th hee saith that hee knowes not
the number of pounds of Cotton delivered by George hughes to George
Morley at Ligorne, but if the grosse weight were noe more than
182946 pounds of Ligorne, and that the tare to be deducted were in
the whole 4557 pounds of Ligorne, that the said George
hughes hath delivered short of what the 296 kintalls and 34 Rotolo's
of Turkish weight should containe, 11762 li and a halfe Ligorne pounds,
as this deponent hath cast the sume up, computing
each Turkish Rotolo to be 6 pounds 5 ounces Legorne. And otherwise
hee cannot depose.
To the 16th hee saith that every pound weight of Ligorne of Cottons and Galls by
common computattion maketh 12 ounces or thereabouts of a
pound English weight, and soe the 11762 pounds and a halfe of Cotton of Ligorne
weight doe make 8821 pounds and 14 ounces English, which is short of the die
weight which the said hughes ought to have delivered as aforesaid
referring himselfe to his foregoeing deposition, And otherwise hee cannot
depose.
To the 17th hee saith that hee knoweth not the number of ligorne
pounds of Galls delivered by the said George hughes to George
Northleigh at Ligorne, but if the said George hughes delivered
noe more in grosse weight than 187 981 pounds of galls of Ligorne
weight, and that the tare to be deducted was 4075 pounds
of ligorne, soe that the nete weight was noe more then 183906 pounds
