Transcription

To the second third and fourth articles and schedule annexed
hee saith and deposeth that within the said time the fish, herring
and casks schedulated (whereof the producent John Cooke was as
hee beleeveth the true and reall owner) were by him the said Cooke
or his servants delivered from his shopp in Thamestreete London to
the use and for the provisioning of the said shipp the Chase (then
lying here in the River of Thames and bound out on a voyage) and
that the same came accordingly onboard her, and were after such comming
aboard used in her, and the said fish and herrings spent in her in
and for the mariners provisions by order of him this deponent her master
But the valew of the said goods hee saith hee knoweth not. The
premises hee deposeth being master as aforesaid and acquainted
with the said goods comming aboard, and their being imployed and used
in and on board the said shipp. And saith that after the receipt
of the said goods on board the said shipp, shee departed on her said
voyage in the service of the Commonwealth as a man of warr
And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the fifth hee saith the said Cooke hath caused the said shipp to be arrested,
and otherwise referring himselfe to the Registrie of this Court, hee cannot depose.

John Coymans of Amsterdam}
for their goods in the hare in the feild}

Examined upon an allegation given in
on the behalfe of the said claimers.

William de Vischer of London Merchant
aged 60 - yeares or thereabouts sworne and
examined.

To the eighth article of the said allegation (upon which alone
hee is by direction of the producent examined) hee saith and deposeth
that hee very well knoweth the producents Balthazar and John
Coymans, and hath soe donne for theise fourtie yeares last past or
thereabouts, during thirtie yeares and upwards of which space hee saith they have bin and at present
are citizens, burgers and Inhabitants of Amsterdam and for such
commonly accompted and reputed, and subiects of the Lords the States
of the United Netherlands, and soe likewise commonly accompted
which hee knoweth having conversed with them
at Amsterdam in his this deponents youth, and bin ever since very
neerly acquainted with them, and having had correspondance with them
in the way of merchandize, and this deponent alsoe well knew their
father (Balthazar Coymans) living in Amsterdam where hee was a
merchant. And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the first hee saith hee this deponent is a native of Emden
and hath lived in London theise 50 yeares last and otherwise negatively.
