Transcription

pillage aboard the dutch hoy, leavinge the Hope at Anchor, and that
shortly after they meeting with some ffishermen informed them of her,
and that the said fishermen had taken and carried her towards London,
whereupon the said master of the Hope and company hasted alsoe towards
London, which hee knoweth beong one of the said company, And otherwise
hee cannot depose:

To the sixth hee saith that the said master and company making towards
London in their boate they understood in their way that their shipp was
at a place about three English miles above Gravesend, whither they
went and found her at an anchor, namely at Grayes whither the
said ffishermen had brought her, being about thirtie English miles from the
place where shee had soe [?XXXX] fast. And saith that in case the said
fishermen had letten her alone, the master and Company of the Hope might
and would have brought her in three tides (or thereabouts) up
to Grayes themselves with the charge of 20 li sterling or
thereabouts. And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the seaventh hee saith that hee hath bin aboard the said shipp the
Hope since such her bringing up by the ffishermen, and found many of
her tackle and appurtenance wanting, namely two anchors, a cable, a
cable towe, all her sailes and all her standing tackle and furniture as
alsoe part of her lading aforesaid, And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the eighth hee saith that one of the said fishermens ketches or at
most two of them with tenn men might with ease have brought up
the said shipp from the place where shee was soe found, and otherwise
hee cannot depose.

To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first hee saith the said shipp the hope belongeth to Coningsborowe
And otherwise hee cannot answer saving as aforesaid.

To the second hee saith that the master of the said shipp the Hope is named
Martin Barnehide, and saith the said Martin liveth sometimes at
Coningsbergh (where hee is a Burgher and subiect) and somtimes at Lubeeck where
hee was borne, And otherwise negatively.

To the third hee saith the said shipp the hope her lading was consigned
and to be delivered here at London to mr harrison and others, and otherwise
saving as aforesaid hee cannot answer.

To the last hee cannot depose.
