To the 12th hee hath not soe deposed.

To the 13th negatively.

The 8th of November 1655. Examined upon an
allegation given in on the behalfe of the said claimers.

The claime of George Ceely and}
Josua Prigg for 5 ballots of canvas in the}
Crosse of Jerusalem.}

Peter Martenson of Pommerland in
North-Holland Mariner, Master of
the said shipp the Jerusalems crosse
aged 44 yeares or thereabouts
sworne and examined.

To the 7th article of the said allegation (upon which alone hee is by
direction of the producent examined) and the bill of lading
therein mentioned nowe showed unto him, hee saith and deposeth
that the said bill of lading is one of the three originall bills (all
of one tenour) which hee this deponent signed for the five balots of canvastherein mentioned, and that the subscription of this deponents name
threunto was and is of this deponents owne handwriting. And saith
the contents of the said bill were and are true and soe had and donne
as therein is contained. And otherwise hee cannot depose, there being
noe Invoice produced.

To the Interrogatories. [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first hee saith hee hath bin master of the said shipp ever since
the 28th of January last new stile, and that hee was borne and hath lived allwaies
in Pommerland, and saith hee was aboard the said shipp when shee was
seized, and otherwise negatively.

To the seecond hee cannot depose.

To the third hee answereth negatively for his part and otherwise hee cannot
depose, saving his foregoeing deposition.

To the fourth hee saith hee doth not knowe the producents, and otherwise
cannot answer.

To the fifth hee cannot depose.

To the 6th hee saith hee cannot tell what to say or beleeeve in the matters
interrogate, referring himselfe as aforesaid.

To the 7th hee cannot answer.

To the 8th hee saith it was notorious at the time of the said lading that
there was warr betwixt Spaniard and ffrance, and otherwise hee cannot
depose.

To the 9th hee cannot answer, for hee did not see the canvas in question
the same comming aboard ready made up in the ballots, and hee signed to the
contents upon the laders relation, not knowing the contents as hee hath
underwritten to the said bill.

To the tenth hee cannot depose.

To the last hee cannot depose.
