To the 17th hee saith hee this deponent (being the arlate harman
Goris) saith hee did not nor doth knowe the arlate Lemo, nor
when hee was hyred, nor knoweth ought touching the contents of the
sayd article and therefore cannot depose thereto/
To the 18th hee saith that the place where the pretended examinations arlate
were writtem was a Taverne in Portsmouth and was full of Cupps
and [?polls] with wine in them when the sayd pretended Examinations were
in writeing, and hee saith that hee this deponent) being the arlate
Herman Goris) did then saye that, was not nt a place fitt for
examination, and that hee this deponent would goe up to
London and be examined in the Admiralty Court there, and hee saith
this deponent did thereupon refuse to sett his hand to a pretended
Examination of this deponent which was there drawne up,
And further to this article hee cannot depose saving hee saith the
arlate Captaine Saunders, and this deponent, and the rest of the company
who were there about takeing the sayd Examinations, were
freely merrie togeather and dranke often each to each other while the
sayd pretended examinations were in takeing,/
To the 19th hee saith hee for his part did not charge the arlate
Lemo that hee should not say any thing upon his examination,
nor had any conference with him touching his examination,
And further hee cannot depose./
To the last hee saith his foregoeing deposition is true./
To the Interrogatories./ [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first hee saith hee hath a share in the ladeing seized in thehare
in the feild, and saith it will be advantage to him if the goods therein seized
be released for that hee shall thereby recover his owne, And to the
rest of the Interrogaories hee answerth negatively/
To the 2 Interrogatorie hee saith hee cometh to testifie in this cause at the request
of the producent, And to the rest of the Interrogatorie, hee answereth
negatively./
To the 3 Interrogatorie hee saith for that hee is noe seaman hee knoweth not
what course the shipp Interrogate steered the tyme Interrogate, but heard the
Master saye hee would steere the direct Course to gaine the English Coast (as
before hee hath deposed) and where the winde was the time Interrogate hee remembreth
not And further saving his foregoeing deposition hee cannot answere/
To the 4th hee saith hee beleeveth the Master of the hare in the ffeild came not
on board the Tyger ffrigott till the second tyme hee was sent for And further
saving his foregoeing deposition hee cannot answere./
