Transcription

this deponent that he had received advise by Letters
from the arlate Perera of the lading of oyles and other
goods by the arlate Policarpe de Olavares at Porta port
in Portugall for his the said Pereras Accompt, and
that in the said Perera did by the same Letters alsoe
advise him the said ffernandez de Carvaiall that the
said goods were consigned to the said Morad in ffrance
and that the said ffernandez to have gone a share in the
said goods, And otherwise he cannot depose./

To the eight and ninth articles he deposeth and saith that he
hath seene the bills of exchange with Morais the sayd
Perera;s ffactor did draw upon ffernandez de Carvaiall
his precontest for the goods in controversy, and that he
saw the said bills a good while before the seizure of the
arlate shipp And further he cannot depose.

To the tenth article he saith that at the time he saw the
bills of exchange which the said Morais did draw upon the
sayd ffernandez for the accompt of the sayd Perera for the
goods arlate, the sayd bills were accepted, and therfore
he doubteth not but they were payd And
otherwise he cannot depose.

To the eleaventh article he deposeth and saith that the said
Joseph Perera did by a Letter (bearing date the twelth (sic)
of March last old stile) which said Letter he hath
now in his hand) advise this deponent that there were
laden or lading at Porta port in Portugall for his
accompt Oyles and Sumacke, and by the said
Letter he the said Perera advisd this deponent to make
some assurance upon the said goods at London for his the
sayd Pereras accompt, and that this deponent did
accordingly endeavour the same, but the Assurance being
high, he could not doe it, And further he cannot
depose Saving that afterwards he received advise from
the said Perera that he the said Perera had assured
all or some of the said goods at Amsterdam.

To the twelth article he referreth himselfe to his
former deposition And further he cannot answeare,.

To the thirteenth he deposeth that the said Joseph Perera
hath advisd this deponent by Letter that the goods and shipp
arlate were seized by a ffrigatt belonging to this
Commonwealth And further he cannot depose.

To the fourteenth article he deposeth and saith that he well
knoweth the arlate Antonio Rodrigues de Morais
and that he was borne at Porta Port in Portugall and
the deponent saith that the said Morais hath lived divers
yeares at Roane, In some of which yeares this deponent
hath lived there alsoe, and that therby he well knoweth
that the said de Morais liveth there as a Merchant
Stranger, And further he cannot depose/
