Transcription

of ffishermen tennants of the Mannor and hundred of ffeversham at
a Court held twice a yeare by the Lord of the sayd Mannor and hundred and offenders against such orders are there punished
and having never heard or beleeveing that any Vice Admiralty court
did at any tyme appointe when the grounds in question should be layd in
or broken open or meddle with punishing any offenders against the same./

To the 4th hee saith hee beleeveth the fishermen of Stroude Mitlon and
other places have within the tyme Interrogate fished secretly and as
trespassers, in and upon the grounds Interrogated And to the rest of the Interrpgatorie
hee answereth negatively for his part javing never heard of any such
complaint or order as is Interrogate./

To the 5th hee saith hee cannot write nor reade written hand but
hath seene writings and heard them read, which (as they who read
them did in the readeing expresse) did declare that the grounds in question
were parcell of the Mannor and hundred of ffeversham and that the
ffishermen tennants of the sayd Mannor and hundred and noe other had
right to fish in the, or to that effect, and saith that they were
aunchient records as hee beleeveth of grannts by Kinge Stephen and severall Kings of this
Nation since to the Lords for the tyme being of the Mannor and hundred of
ffeversham and the ffishermen their tennants only to ffish the sayd grounds
but the dates of them hee remembreth not And further to this
Interrogatorie hee cannot answere./

To the 6th saving his foregoeing answere to the first Interrogatorie hee cannot further
answer thereto./

To the 7th hee saith saving his foregoeing deposition to the arlate
allegation in this cause hee cannot answere to this Interrogatorie/

To the 8th hee saith there are divers other fish besides oysters as soles
flounders place and such smale fish taken by the ffishermen tennants
of the sayd mannor and hundred of ffeversham upon the grounds Interrogated
but not by any other ffishermen unlesse secretly as tresspassers as
hee beleeveth And further hee cannot answere./

To the last hee saith hee never knew, heard, or beleeveth any such
thing as is Interrogate./
