The 12th of June .1655: [CENTRE HEADING]

A busines of examination of Wittnesses for the perpetuall memory}
of the matter on the behalfe of domingo vas Britto of}
London Merchant concerning the shipp called the Saint Michael}
(whereof Manoel ferdinando Camerino was sometimes}
Master}

Examined upon certaine
Interrogatories on the behalfe of
the said domingo vas britto

Manuel Perera Native of Roane in ffrance but
now dwelling here in London Cashier to the said
domingo vas Britto aged 20 yeares or thereabouts
a Wittnes sworne this day in Court and examined saith as followeth videlicet

To the first of the said Interrogatories hee saith, That hee this examinate doeth
well knowe the shipp Saint Michael interrate, whereof Manoel ferdinando
Camprino was master, and hath soe knowne her for about three yeares
last past, during which time shee hath constantly belonged to the said
domingo Vas de Britto, who was and is commonly reputed and taken to
bee the sole and whole Owner and Proprietor of the said ship and of
her Tackle apparrell and furniture, Which hee knoweth for that hee
this rendent hath for most of that time been Cash keeper of the said
Owner and thereby hath good knowledge of the said Proprietorshipp.

To the second hee saith, That this rendent hath been very credibly informed
and understood, That the said dominico vas de Britto did cause the said
ship to be originally built about three yeares since at his owne Costs and
charges and for his owne accompt and service, and hath ever since at
his owne Costs and charges fitted and furnished the same to sea upon all
the Voiages shee hath performed, and hath therein runne the whole hazard
and adventure thereof, And saith the said shipp was upon her ladt
Voiage wherein shee was taken fitted and furnished out to sea from the
Terreraes by the said domingo's factor for the said domingo's accompt
whereof this rendent hath seene and perused and accompt sent over
inclosed in a letter of advice to the said domingo vas Bretto from his
said factor importing the charges hee had been at for such her last setting
to sea upon the accompt aforesaid, And saith That thereby and by his
said relation as Cashier to the said domingo hee is well assured
of the trueth of the premisses, And further saving his foregoeing
deposition hee cannot depose

To the third hee saith, the said domingo vaz de Britto was and is
a Merchant in and of this Citie of London, and a Subject of this
Commonwealth of England, and that hee keepeth his house and family
here, and for such a Merchant inhabitant and Subject hee saith hee
the said domingo was and is well knowne and generally reputed

To the fourth Interrogatorie hee saith hee this examinate well knoweth by
meanes of his relation predeposed, That the said shipp did in or about
the moneth of August 1653. being then in the ffernambuco in Brazile
sett out from thence upon a voiage to Portugall being so sett out by
