The 14th of december 1654. [CENTRE HEADING]

Justinian Willis and Company Imployers of}
the handmaide, against the Patience}

Rp. jus

Hervey Pedron of Penarf in Bretany
in the Realme of ffrance Mariner, aged
50 yeares or thereabouts sworne and examined

To the first Interrogatorie hee saith hee this deponent was pilot of the said
shipp the Patience and came first aboard her at Bourdeaux about the begininning
of this present moneth of december newe stile, amd saith shee is commonly
said to be of Euchusen in holland, And otherwise hee cannot depose

To the second hee saith hee is a Breton by nation and a subiect of the
ffrench kinge, and that the master is commonly said to be of Euchusen
and his company hollanders, saving this deponent who is a ffrenchman
And otherwise hee cannot depose saving as aforesaid.

To the third and fourth hee saith hee this deponent was hired at Bourdeaux to
pilot the said ship the Patience to Saint Malo's, and that her lading
is Bourdeaux wine laden at Bourdeaux, and that the same was laden
at Bourdeaux by ffrench merchants namely monsieur des Ages, monsieur
Corneux, and the sonnes of monsieur de G[?race] and monsieur Gouvaigne,
which monsieur Corneux and monsieur Gouvaigne are of Bourdeaux
and the other two of Saint Malo's, and are all subiects of the ffrench
kinge, and the said lading was to be transported to Saint Malo's
to which place this deponentw as to pilot the said shipp and
lading, and that a part of the said wines were said to be belonging
to the said men of Saint Malo's, and whether the rest belongeth to them
of Bourdeaux or not hee saith hee knoweth not; And saith hee
hath knowne the said des[?age] to be living at Bourdeaux and Saint
Malo's about tenn yeares last, and the rest hee hath knowne but only
this voyage, And saith the said master desa[?ge] is a maried man at
Saint Malo's, And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the fifth hee saith hee hath seene the Charter partie for the said voyage
in the hands of the master in the River of Bourdeaux, being as
hee saith the same nowe showne into him, and otherwise referring
himselfe to the said Charter partie, hee cannot depose.

To the 6th hee saith the said shipp and lading were taken
by Captaine Wells and companie at sea
about 6 leagues from the shore of Bretany as shee was in
her course for Saint Malo's, And otherwise hee cannot depose.

master of the said shipp the Patience, aged 21 yeares or
thereabouts sworne and examined.

To the first Interrogatorie hee saith and deposeth that hee hath
bin master of the said shipp the Patience about a yeare last and
that shee belongeth to the port of Euchusen where this deponent dwelleth
