and Companie for the preservation of their lives being necessitated to
desert her in that her perishing condition, and to endeavour their preservation
in their boate, And saith, the goods and Merchandizes mentioned in the
said bill of lading were on board the said shipp at such time as shee
perished as aforesaid. All which the premisses hee knoweth by sadd
experience as being Master and Commannder of the said shipp at the
time of her said disaster; and during the whole Voiage before:-/

Examined upon the foresaid allegation on the
behalfe of his highnesse.

Richard Aings of highgate in the County of Middlesex
Yeoman, aged 40 yeares or thereabouts sworne and
examined.
To the first article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth that in the
yeare 1654 (as hee remembreth the time) The Commissioners for
Prize goods, having sold a parcell of sweete oiles, taken as prize
in the shipp the Greate Saint Marke, this deponent being one of the
keepers of the Warehouse and sellar wherein they were put, made delivery
and helped to deliver the same (to the quantitie of betwixt twenty and thirtie tonnes or thereabouts
to Mr Baker and Mr howlet, and saith the same weere soe deliveres to thm
at and after the gage and quantitie of 236 gallons to the tonne and not more
and soe by them received, And saith that 236 gallons of sweete oiles
to the tonne was the usuall gage of sweete oiles sold by the said Commissioners
for the sale of prize goods, which hee knoweth being imploied in
warehouse keeping under them, and well acquainted therewith, And
otherwise hee cannot depose.
Upon the rest not examined by direction of the producent.

To the first second and third they doe not concerne him, for hee hath not
soe deposed.
To the fourth hee saith hee never knew of 252 gallons of sweete oiles
sold to a tonne.
To the fifth negatively for his part, and otherwise hee cannot depose
