To the rest of the Interrogatories hee saith and deposeth that hee cannot answer
further thereto than as aforesaid, for hee was not in the voyage nor knoweth
ought thereof or of the lading in question.

Examined upon an allegation given in on
the behalfe of the said Birdsey
and others 15 November 1654, and
upon a schedule on the file 1654
annexed to a primum decretum
No. 311.

Samuel Birdsey of Wapping Wall citizen and
ffishmonger of London aged 22 yeares or thereabouts
sworne and examined.
To the first and second articles of the said allegation and to the schedule
aforesaid remayning on the file beginning thus Delivered to Captaine John
Ramsey to the use of the shipp Expectation August 1648, written in
two leaves if paper and nowe showne unto him and by him perused
hee saith and deposeth that in the Summer time 1648 the arlate
John Ramsey the master of the said shipp Expectation came to the shopp
of the said John Birdsey situat in Wapping Wall and in this deponents
presence and hearing spake unto him the said Birdsey and told
him that his shipp was going out for the Straights (speaking of the said
shipp Expectation) and wanted severall necessaries belonging to the
said Birdseys trade (being a shipp Chaundler) and therefore desired
the said Birdsey to deliver and furnish the said shipp therewith, and
the said producent John Birdsey condescending thereto, did at the
instance and request of the said Ramsey deliver
and cause to be delivered out of and from his said shopp to Robert Cowell Gunner of the
said shipp and one Gilpatrick pursers mate and other of the
said shipps company (all which were sent and came in the name of
the said Ramsey) all and singular the goods and materialls mentioned
and expressed in the said schedule in two leaves nowe by him read
over; which hee knoweth because hee this deponent being then
apprentice unto the said Birdsey did by his masters directions
deliver the most part of the said goods and materialls schedulated
and entred them into the debt booke of the said shopp, and to the
deliverie of the rest hee was privie and to the entrie likewise
of the same, and saith they were then well worth the severall and
respective summes of money in the said schedule expressed, being the
summes and rates according to the then currant and selling price of
the like commodities and goods which hee knoweth being of the trade
