that the shipps lading of wyne and other hoods had actually and
really belonged to the said de la Bistrate, (who was and is accompted
and generally reputed and knowne to be a Merchant and Burgher of
very eminent quality in hamburgh) they both of them being Subjects of
places in perfect amity with this Commonwealth, both the said shipp
and goods had been as free from Condemnation or Confiscation by
the English, as if they had really belonged to absolute English Subjects
And somuch hee beleeveth the Law will make manifest. And
further cannot depose./

To the last hee saith his foregoeing deposition is true./:-

To thge Crosse Interrogatories./ [CENTRE HEADING]

To the first hee saith, That at the time of the seizure interrate there
were 7. other ships in Company with the shipp the black Raven
interrate, Robert Sedgwick interrate Commander but saith hee knoweth
not the names of the said shipps nor of their severall Captaines or Commanders
And otherwise saving his foregoeing deposition hee cannot depose./:-

To the second hee saith hee came first aboard the shipp Saint John Baptist
interrate at dover, and there did first undertake the Conduct of her, and
saith that not long before hee had bin Master of the shipp Saint John Baptist
of dantzicke predeposed, And further referreth to his foregoeing deposition:-/

Tio the third hee saith That hee this rendent was and is the interrate John
Claesson who was Master of the shipp the Saint John Baptist in Controversie
and saith hee hath formerly been Master of the aforesaid shipp Saint John
Baptist of dantzicke, and before that of the Saint Paul of dantzicke, and
saith that hee about 2. yeares since sould the said shipp John Baptist of
dantzicke, at dantzicke, and saith that about a yeare since, as hee hath heard
the said shipp was taken by the Turkes, and saith Tha the Owners of the
said shipp John Baptist, before shee was so sould, were Abraham
Clements, FRans Vosse, Julius Tibaut Joachim Comecke and this
rendent all dantzickers, and subjects of that free Citie, and inhabiting
there./

To the 4th hee saith, That upon the first haling of the shipp the John Baptist
in Controversie, by the said shipp Black Raven and Companie, this
rendent and Companie answered, that they were of dantsicke, but did
not at all mention that the said shipp was of Amsterdam./

To the 5th and 6th Interrogatories hee saith, That after the shipp Saint John
Baptist interrate had submitted to the shipp the Black Raven interrate
and others, there was a Councell of Warr held aboard the said
shipp Black Raven by the aforesaid Captaine Sedgwicke and the
Captaines of the other English shipps then in Company, by whom this
rendent being examined did constantly declare and affirme that his
said shipp and lading did belong to Arnold and Elias Beake of
London and Michael de hare of dover Merchants, his Principall
