Transcription

And saith, That the arlate Andrew Browne who is an Irish
man did when this deponent was last at Brest live and reside
there, and did usually goe to sea from thence in such friggats
or men of warr as were sett out from thence by and under the
Commissions aforesaid. Which hee knoweth and hath seene
observed during his aboade at Brest, as aforesaid. And further
cannot depose./

To the 4th hee saith, That he arlate Thomas Griffin doeth usually
trade from one Port to another in ffrance, And saith this deponent
hath seene at falmouth where the said shipp the Thomas now is,
that some ffrench wines were brought from aboard the same, And
further cannot depose./

To the last hee saith his foregoeing deposition is true./

Marke Harrison of Wapping in the
County of Middlesex Mariner, aged 27 yeares
or thereabouts sworne and examined.

To the first article of the said allegation hee saith and deposeth
that hee hath well knowne the shipp the Saint John Baptist
arlate for theise tenn monthes last and upwards, and saith shee
is a dutch built shipp, and soe much hee saith appeareth by
her mould or fashion, which hee knoweth being a mariner, and
well acquainted with the severall building of shipps. And
otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the second article hee saith and deposeth that after the shipp
the Saint John Baptist aforesaid was haled and subdued, and had
submitted to the Black Raven (which was in the immediate service of
this Commonwealth,) the arlate Major Sedgewick, commander
in cheife of a paartie or Squadron of English shipps
set out under his command (whereof the black Raven was one)
called a Counsell of warr aboard the said shipp the Black
Raven, before whom the master and some of the company of the
Saint John Baptist being examined, did declare that the said shipp
the John Baptist belonged to dantzike, which hee knoweth being
commander of the shipp the Church, one of the said Squadron
and present at the said Counsell and hearing the said declaration
And otherwise hee cannot depose.

To the third hee saith that at the same Counsell of warr, and
shortly after the said master and such his company as were with
him

Examined upon the foresaid allegation.
