Transcription

To the third hee saith that hee doth not knowe what day of
the moneth that the said shipp the dove went through
the place interrogated called the Well, but for the day of the weeke
it was to his remembrance on a monday night, And otherwise
negatively saving as aforesaid.

To the fourth hee saith that the same munday about noone
the said shipp the dove went out of Winterton, and that three
other shipps went in her company, but hee doth
not remember their names or their masters names, onely one of
them was (as hee taketh it) the George, whereof Mr Tokerly was master, And
otherwise negatively.

To the fifth hee saith hee hath confessed that the say they went
out of Winterton roade this deponent having wrought all the day
and at night the watch beginning and this deponent being in the
masters watch, thesaid master Mr Cable badd him goe sleepe
which hee did. And otherwise negatively saving as aforesaid.

To the 6th hee saith hee hath received all his wages for
the said voyage three monethes since, and otherwise negatively

Robert Shorting of Wapping in the
County of Middlesex Mariner, aged
22 yeares or thereabouts sworne and
examined as aforesaid.

To the first Interrogatorie hee saith and deposeth that
hee well knew and was one of the company namely the
boatswaine of the said shipp the Mary of London (Willianm
ffishman master) at the time of her late being at Malaga and
thence bound for thus port of London. And otherwise hee cannot
depose.

To the second and third Interrogatories hee saith that there were the
said voyage laden aboard the said shipp at Malaga namely
about the beginning of October last thirtie butts of wine,
seaven hundred and twenty peeces of fruite, and about foure
hundred barrells of raisings, all which wer soe laden by Mr
Jackson a factor there, and to be transported to this port, and
saith the said goods were marked either with PWW. or BW. namely
some of them were marked with the first and the rest with the
second of the said markes, And saith hee heard the said Jackson
at Malaga say that the said goods were all for the accompt
of Mr Whetcombe and one Mr Jackson merchants of this
citie, and hee came to take notice of the said markes because
hee was boatswaine and tooke notice thereof in [?necessitie],
And saith that the said shipp having received the said goods
aboard her sett saile and departed from Malaga for this
port
