The ffrenchmen of warr did seize and surprize English shipps where
they could meet them at Sea. And further cannot depose./
To the 7th hee saith, hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition to the 7th
article interrate And further cannot depose.
To the Crosse Interrogatories exhibited. the 15th of december 1654: [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first hee saith, That it doeth not at all concerne him this rendent
To the second hee saith, That hee this examinate was at Leghorne in or
about the moneth of december 1652. interrate, and saith a dutch fleet was
then before that place. And further hee cannot depose./
To the third hee saith hee knoweth nothing thereof.
To the 4th and schedule therein mentioned hee saith hee knoweth
nothing thereof./
To the 5th hee saith, That the first rumour this deponent heard of a likelihood
of hostility betwixt the English and hollanders was by the English Comvoy
aforesaid at their arrivall at Cyprus as aforesaid, and saith it was afterwards
reported at Cephalonia that the hollanders had a fleet of shipps of warr then in the Straights
And further cannot depose./
To the 6th hee referreth hi,selfe to his precedent deposition to the 14th article of
the said Allegation, And further cannot depose./
To the 7th and 8th hee saith, hee hath not so deposed to the articles interrate:-
To the 9th hee saith, the goods and Merchandizes interrate were delivered
into the Lazaretta interrate in the same manner as they were received
aboard the said shipp, that is by the number of baggs and not otherwise,
And further saving his foregoeing deposition hee saith hee cannot depose, saving
that so farr as this deponent observed, and to the best of his Judgement the said
goods at such their delivery were in a very good condition/
To the 10th negatively for his part, And further cannot depose./
To the 11th hee saith, the interrate shipp the Thomas Bonadventure
was and is an English built shipp and was mounted with 24. gunns
having aboard her about 46. men and boyes all English, as hee beleeveth.
and that shee was and is of the burthen of about 300. Tonns./
To the 12th hee saith hee cannot depose, saying hee hath never been in Turkey
before the Voiage in question./
To the 13th hee saith, this rendent was not at Cyprus in the moneths
of July August and September interrate, but being arrived at Porta
Longoone, hee was there informed that the shipp the Imployment
interrate was within the moneths interrate departed from Cyprus
for London. And further cannot depose:-
To the14th hee saith that the Currance interrate were unladen at
Porta ferrara togeather with the rest of the said shipps lading, and
saith that a Certaine quantity of Currance was brought in the said
shipp for London, but for whose account or by whose order hee knoweth
not./
To the 15th hee referreth himselfe to his foregoing deposition And further
cannot depose./
To the 16th and 17th hee saith hee hath not so deposed./
