is commonly reputed a native of Ypers and the said ffrancis de la Sierpe
of dunquirke. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the nineth hee saith that the arlate Peter Lams (whom this deponent
hath well knowne for theise two yeares last) to whom the said silver and plate were
consigned (as in the said bills) was and is commonly accompted a fflandrian
borne, and for all the said time of this deponents knowledge of him
hath lived and dwelt in Ostend, till very lately that hee went thence
to live at dunquirke, and in regard of such his commodious dwelling for
taking up of goods comming thither from Spaine the said producent
and his factors made use of his name for consigning the said silver
and plate to him for the producents accompt. And for a subiect of the king eof Spaine
and of noe other prince or state the said Peter Lams was and is
commonly accounted and reputed. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the tenth article hee saith and deposeth that hee hath heard and
beleeveth the said shipp the Saint John Baptist in her course from Cadiz
for dunquirke or Ostend was met with and seized by some shipp or
shipps of this Commonwealth and brought into England together with
the said silver in her. And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the eleaventh article hee saith that the said producent George
Boschaert was and is a hamburgher borne, where this deponent was
alsoe borne and knoweth his friends there, and the said producent was
and is a merchant of good accompt and for such commonly accompted and
reputed, and as hee hath heard hee lived twelve yeares
in Cadiz before hee came to live in Antwerp where hee hath dwelt
for theise two yeares last, and where this deponent hath lived with
him for that time and before for five yeares this deponent lived
with him at Cadiz And for all the said time the said producent
hath bin and is a subiect of the kinge of Spaine, and noe subiect of
the ffrench kinge or of the States of the United Netherlands, And
otherwise hee cannot depose

To the first Interrogatories hee answereth negatively.
To the second hee saith hee was not at Cadiz the voyage in question
and otherwise hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition.
To the third hee saith that the interrogated ffrancis de la Sierpe and Peter Johnson were and are
factors to and of the producent Mr Boschaert, but not hee to them
for as hee saith the said producent hath not donne any [?negotiation] by
Commission or as factor to another since hee came as aforesaid from
Spaine. And otherwise hee cannot answer savinge as aforesaid.
To the fourth hee saith that when this deponent lived at and came from
Cales as aforesaid about two yeares since the said ffrancis de la Sierpe
dwelt there neare Saint Philips and Peter Johnson the yonger in the
fflemish streete and kept their families there, and the said producent
ever since his comming from Cales hath dwelt neare the Exchange
in Antwerp. And otherwise hee referreth himselfe to his foregoing deposition.
To the 5th hee saith hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition and
to the said bills of lading, And otherwise hee cannot depose.
To the 6th hee saith hee was not present nor did see the said John de
[?Coos] signe the bills of lading interrogated.
To the 7th hee saith the two bills of lading annexed were and are true
and reall and noe wayes fictitious or colourable, but made accoring to
truth and realitie of the matter, which hee saith hee knoweth for
the reasons aforesaid.
To the 8th, 9th and tenth hee referreth himselfe to his foregoeing deposition
and to the said bills of lading annexed and otherwise hee cannot depose.
