Lawes of Spaine, And saith that if moneyes or sylver attempted to be transported
without license be seized in the ports of Spaine, the owners thereof
may be devested of their property therein by confiscation thereof to the
use of the King of Spaine, but saith if the same arrive and
come to any place not subiect to the lawes of Spaine it is as free
a merchandize in all respects to the Owners thereof as any other
goods whatsoever, and somuch is evident by daily experience and
practise in fflanders. And further he cannot depose

and surprized by some of the shippes of the}

behalfe of the sayd Claymers.

a witnes sworne and examined deposeth
anmd saith as followeth. videlicert
To the first Article of the sayd Allegation This deponent saith that the arlate
Christian Cloppenbergh master or Captaine of the Salvador did in October 1652 of the
certaine knowledge of this deponent lade aboard his sayd shipp for his
owne proper Accompt the severall goods and moneys hereafter
mentioned that is to say eight butts of sack marked with the first
marke in the margent, which this deponent saw him buy for ready money
att Xeris in Spaine, and three potachoes of Tobacco marked with the
second marke in the margent which he bought in the Bay of Cadiz
of Manuel Correa a merchant passenger in his sayd shipp, and one
Chest of Sugar without marmed bestowed upon as a guift or present
by a merchant a freind of his Vincent del Campo, and one bagg of
peices of eight marked with the third marke in the margent conteyning
fower hundred peices of eight being part of it for fraight, part for
goods, and part upon private Commissions, and the moiety or halfe
part of eight butts of sack more marked with the sayd third marke
in the margent videlicet W. bought of Pedro ffrancisco a merchant of
Xeris (of whom the other eight Butts were likewise bought) for ready
money, To be transported in the sayd shipp from Cadiz aforesayd
to Ostend upon the Accompt and Adventure of him the sayd Christian
Cloppenbergh and there to be disposed of by him for his accompt.

the arlate one moyety or halfe part of the foresayd eight butts of sack
marked with the sayd marke videlicet W. of Pedro ffrancisco aforesayd
