Transcription
Cadiz which sayd Arrivall was about the latter end of July 1652. And
otherwise, saving that he knoweth not of any parcells of sylver or other [?]
delivered out of the sayd shipp after the lading of the sylver now claymed,
he cannot depose.
To the four and twentyeth he saith that the sylver interrate was all of it laden
aboard the Sampson riding att an anchor neere to Cadize under Commaund
of the fforts. And otherwise, saving that he knoweth not of any pasport, he
saith he cannot depose.
To the five and twentyeth he saith that the Purser of the sayd shipps name
was Pedro da Campo, and was as this deponent beleiveth an Hamburger
and otherwise he cannot depose.
To the Interrogatories given in 26th of May 1653. [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first and second he saith that being borne in Teneriffe as aforesayd
and having never bene in Spayne above the space of about three monthes
in all, he knoweth not the Lawes and Customes thereof, nor can he depose
otherwise to eyther of theis Interrogatories or any part thereof

Thomas Sanchez da Vicar of Valladolid
in Nova Castilia in Spayne Merchant aged
thirty four yeares or thereabouts a witnes
sworne and examined, saith and deposeth
To the first Article of the sayd Allegation This deponent saith and deposeth
That the arlate Antonio da Ponte being about the month of Aprill last
past was twelve month neere about the latter end of the sayd month, att the
Havana in the West Indies, there had some discourse with this deponent
about the buying of plate, or peices of eight with the proceed of some
merchandizes which he had there, and this deponent advised him rather to
buy plate than peices of eight, and accordingly did of the sight and
knowledge of this deponent buy six barrs of sylver, which this deponent
saw afterwards carryed to the producents lodging att the Havana, and
after the arrivall of the King of Spaynes Galleons laded aboard a shipp
that was called the Saint Juan Baptista Juan Sericho Master to be from
thence transported to Cadize arlate for the use and Accompt of the
producent and there this deponent saw him in the quiet possession of
the sayd six barres. And otherwise he cannot depose saving that this
deponent cast upp the value and weight of the sayd barrs att Havana
aforesayd but the markes and weight thereof cannot now perfectly
call to mynde, and saving that he knoweth that in the monthes of
May June July August and September 1652. he knoweth the sayd producent
was the true and lawfull Owner of the sayd six barrs so by him bought as
aforesayd, and from the same tyme continued in the quiet possession thereof
And is att this present the lawfull Owner thereof he beleiveth
