Transcription
the severall parcells of money and plate predeposed. And otherwise
saving his foregoing deposition hee saith hee cannot depose.
To the 15th hee referreth to his foregoing deposition.
To the 16th hee saith hee this deponent hee this deponent is an Antwerper
by birth and habitation, And otherwise negatively.
To the 17. hee referreth to his foregoing deposition. And otherwise cannot
depose, saving hee saw no moneys paid for the said silver or plate not
being at Cadiz at the time of lading thereof.
To the 18. 19. and 20th hee saith hee knoweth nothing thereof.
To the 21. he saith, there is an Insurance made for 2000 poinds
fflemmish upon the moneys and plate predeposed by certaine Merchants
of Hamborough whose names hee now remembreth not but saith it was done by the procurement of one Albert Balthazar Baents of Hamburgh but saw the
same entred upon the said producents booke of accompts, and beleeveth not
that any subjects of the King or States interrate have any part or interest
in the said insurance.
To the 22th negatively.
To the 23th hee referreth to his foregoing deposition, And otherwise cannot depose.
To the 24th hee saith the said nine bills of ladeing annexed to the Allegation
came as hee beleeveth by the ordinary Packet from Antwerp to London, being
sent hither by the producent to one Master Rishoult his Correspondent here,
for the presentation of the said producents Clayme. And otherwise cannot
depose.
To the 25th and 26th he saith hee cannot depose, not being at Cadiz
when the said silver and moneyes were laden.
To the 27th hee canno depose otherwise then hee hath predeposed.
To the 28th hee saith, that the person intended by the true letters P. L. is
Peter Louis, who is a factor to the producent, and borne at
[?] Hamburgh as this deponent hath Credibly heard. And further cannot
depose.
To the Interrogatories in the 2nd place [CENTRE HEADING]
To the first and second Interrogatories in the second place hee deposeth and
saith, That hee hath often and Credibly heard, That the transport of
silver and bullion out of Spaine without esperiall Licence is prohibited by
the Lawes of that Land, and that the same upon discovery in Spaine is Confiscable
Yet notwithstanding the said prohibition the deponent well knoweth
That great returnes of money and plate have been sent over from
[shoure] to severall Merchants at Antwerp at severall times without any
Confiscation or interception thereof whatsoever. And otherwise cannot
depose, having never been in Spaine nor knowing any thing from the Lawes
of that Nation.
