Examined upon the said Allegation

John Vervoort of Antwerp in Brabant
Merchant aged 25 yeares or thereabouts swear[ed]
and examined.
To the first second and third articles of the said Allegation hee saith, and
deposeth, That in or about the moneths of March or Aprill last past
the producent Edward Peters a Merchant and Inhabitant of Antwerp
and a Subject of the King of Spaine by one Gerard Ryper his ffactor
and Correspondent residing at Cadiz in Spaine did cause to be laden
for his owne accompt and adventure aboard the shipp the White
Angell (John Lewison de Vischer Master) then being at or neare Cadiz
aforesaid, two baggs of moneyes of the marke in the margent each of
E.P. (MARK)
them containeing two hundred and fiftie pieces of 8 to be transported
and carried in the said shipp from thence to Dunkirke in fflander and
there to be delivered unto the said producent or his Agent or
Correspondent there for his accompt, Which hee knoweth being
Cashier and Bookekeeper to Master John Smeesters a Merchant
of Antwerp, who is a familiar acquaintance [?fursaid] and Ally unto
the said producent, by meanes whereof this deponent for severall yeares
last past hath bin usually and ordinarily made privy to all the
Merchandizing affaires of the said producent, and to the sight
and perusall of such letters of advise and all other documents concerning
his Commerce at the said producent hath constantly sent to or
received from his said ffactors and severall times hath been imployed
by the said producent in transcribing and Copying of severall
of his said letters, and papers, whereby hee hath a full and distinct
knowledge of his transactions, And particularly not long after the
lading of the peeces of 8/8 predeposed, this deponent at Antwerp saw
and perused a letter of Advise sent over Land from Cadiz by the
said ffactors to the said producent, together with an accompt or
ffactorie, and a bill of lading of the marke predeposed for and
concerning the lading of the said 500 peeces of eight in manner
and forme as is predeposed, Which said bill of lading this
deponent being well acquainted with the said ffactors handwriting
wherewith the same is ffilled up doeth firmely and fully well
assured of the verity thereof, and that the contents of the same
were and are really and absolutely true, and no way false or
ffictitious, being also the more confirmed on the trueth of this
his declaration in regard of the conformity hee hath observed
between the bill predeposed, and the duplicate thereof seized
