Transcription

To the 24th he saith he knoweth nothing of the sylver in question nor
of any Cochineale now claymed laden aboard the shipp Sampson
interrate.

To the 25th and 26th he saith It is prohibited by the Lawes of Spaine to
lade any sylver bullion or moneyes without Registering the same and
a License for transportation, and that all sylver so laden without
license if seised in the ports of Spaine is lost to the Owners, onely
he saith the Owners are some tymes admitted to compound for the
same. And in case it be not taken in the sayd Ports It is a free
merchanize and so accounted; And saith the premisses are well
and generally knowne. And otherwise he cannot depose.

ffrancisco Lopez of Grenada in Spayne
merchant aged 21 yeares or thereabouts
a witnes sworne and examined deposeth and
saith as followeth videlicet.

To the 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. and 7th. articles of the sayd allegation This deponent
saith that being att Cadiz in Spaine in the moneth of August 1652
and upon or about the 14thd ay of the sayd moneth and in the Morning
of the same day being in the howse of Gulielmo Pornelison or
Cornelison the Agent and Correspondent of the arlate Symon da ffonseca
Pyna merchant of Madrid, he this deponent then and there saw in
the possession of the sayd Pornelison or Cornelison one barr of sylver
marked as in the margent being the barr of sylver arlate and
