Transcription

Shippe the Saint Martyn at Smirna Michael Audric then
Commander of the said ship and his then Purser in this deponents
sight and presence at the especiall instance and request
of the said proucent and the rest of the parties arlate did enter and
write downe in two severall Bookes all and singular the goods wares
and Merchandizes by them now claymed and which were laden abord the [?said] ship and did sett downe in the Margent
of the said Bookes all the Marks upon the said goods as they are now sett
downe in the Margent of the bills of loading Exhibited in this court
on theire behalfes. Which said Bookes this deponent saith were
abord the said ship the Saint Martin when she was seized by the ships arlate
and did [XXXXe] to the hands and possession of some of the Marriners
of the ship which first seized the Saint Martin who afterwards tooke the same
together with all the rest of the papers which they could find abord the said
ship and put them into a bag and soe carryed them from thence aboard Captaine
Halls ship. The premisses hee deposeth because hee this examinate
haveing allsoe goods abord the Saint Martyn and being one of the said Armenians
was present with his precontest and the rest of theire Countrymen when theire said goods
were soe entred into the said bookes and sawe the same done and did allsoe see
when they were carryed from aboard the said ship as is predeposed. And
further hee cannot depose.

To the second article of the said Allegation hee saith and deposeth That after
such tyme as the said ship the Saint Martyn was seized by the said English
ship[?s] and after such tyme as the said ship was put under the command of
an Englishe Master or Commander the said Commander in
this deponents presence and heareing (being then abord) did aske the
ffrench belonging to the said ship how many bales of goods the Armenians
meaneing the producent, this Examinate and the rest then abord of that Countrye
abord the said ship, whereunto the ffrench replyed that they had about
80 bales of silke Gr[?a]garan yarne and other goods to bee transported to
Leghorne for theire [?accounts] as his precontest Hojah [?Petras] who well understood them told this deponent. And otherwise hee cannot
depose. saveing that the ffrench abord and belonging to
the Saint Martyn did often tymes make knowne and tell unto the Englishe what
and how many goods were on bord the said ship the Saint Martyne for the
accompte of the said producent and the rest of the parties predeposed. the Englishe being very desirous to understand and knowe
the truth thereof as they then seemed unto this deponent and the rest of
the Armenians then abord the said ship.
